My check engine light is

Not sure if this 626 has a coil per cylinder but you need to check that and if it only has one coil I would recommend replacing coil. If it has more than one coil replace coil for the cylinder one and hope that helps.

Had the auto- trans rebuilt in my 01 626 4 cyl.

Having years ago, owned a trans repair business,I will tell
you, that you don't want to consider removing any trans axle
in your driveway. You need a lift

I would go to a trans only repair shop and get involved
I my shop we took the customer into the shop and educated
them and were honest. So,make sure your in there and involved
and they can prove what your issues are.
They love rebuilding them, that is what they do
You need a solution to your issues

I would suspect engine misfires etc, motor and transaxle mounts,
bad drive axle joints

Fuel Filter On all models except the Millenia, the fuel filter is attached to a bracket located in the left rear of the engine compartment, next to or beneath the brake master cylinder fluid reservoir. On the Millenia, the fuel filter is located beneath an access cover in the trunk. Access to the cover is achieved by removing the trunk mat to expose the cover.

I am looking for a service manual for a 1998 Mazda

Oriellys sells a Chilton repair manual for just about any car. The price of these are about 25.00 dollars and are fairly good depending on what you are trying to fix. The usually give you step by step process on most repairs.
