have you checked the fuel filter?It should be located on the frame on the passenger side, if you've already done this then its time for a fuel pump

that is your lifter . it is a common problem with the escort motors

sounds to me it has ablow back. check your pvc valve an the returns in the heads could be stopped up but the pvc could be open an do that hope it helps

If it has a sun roof, check it for leaks or there are drain tubes coming off of the sunroof that drain water from the roof. If the drain tubes are blocked the water could come inside. If the inside headliner has stains on it, they may be water stains which tells of a leak.

Check battery connections. Sometimes a weak connection will fail under very high loads like starting.

There should be a label under the hood that shows the pattern and You Tube has lots of videos by brand and year that show the actual process. Process if done correctly is to hold the spring loaded auto belt tension unit back (mine you just insert the head of a 3/8 ratchet and pull it back, move the belt into position and back the tension off, smooth on belt to smooth on pulley and grooved part of belt to groved parts on the other pulley.Try You Tube first and you will get the idea, easier with a second person to help, I recently did mine alone outside with a temperature of 14 degrees.If the belt came off for no reason inspect the tension unit.

Replace the pump and/or the rack and pinion.

Did you try new bulbs? Check for loose wires on the plugs going to lights, Or a break in the wires, Bulb sockets for condensation, if none of that is the (problem) take it into a auto electric Shop to be check out,

This code is set when the oxygen sensor is reading a lean condition....I would make sure you dont have any vacuum leaks. If thats ok I would change the oxygen sensor.

You are going to have to find where the leak is first before looking at the temp guage problem. I would pressure test the cooling system and look for leaks. check the heater core...make sure thats not leaking. make sure the engine oil and transmission fluids are not over full and milky. Good Luck
