I have a 2003 dodge intrepid es with the 3.5l

You need to find out what fault caused the check engine light to come on, until the fault code is retrieved from the engine control module memory you are 100% guessing. I think you have a misfire.

03 intrepid not charging new alt pcm battery all

A good multi meter would do you some justice it sounds like , from new components and statement sounds like a missing ground , if the motor has been swapped out check all the fram to ground connections as well as any moter mount ground bridges , a charging system is rather simple (make a complete circuit) , wire harnesses make this a chore to trace down but provides a factory working condition ,. To just trouble shoot charging is done with the field wire to batt pos , and earth (ground) to alternator case . good luck!

Car gets hot pretty quick and will overheat, noticed fans arent coming on when car is hot or if I turn a/c on. Have caught them running recently but didnt catch it again.

it could be the cooling fan relays or possibly the cooling fans. to check the fans disconnect the plug at the fans and run jumper wires to them both power and ground. if they don`t work then the fans are bad. check voltage and grounds at the plugs when they should be running, if they are good then the wiring is good. it could also be the coolant sensor for the fans that send the signal from the sensor to the computer so it knows when to turn on the fans. the fan that runs with the A/C when turned on could be the A/C relay.

2003 dodge Intrepid 2.7l oil leak above rear main seal after running 20 minutes

rear main seal usually only leaks when the car is running. though oil will slowy drip off afterwards. now the best way to tell is to remove the heat sheild that covers the flywheel and look at it and at the flywheel . is the oil only on the engine side of the cover or is it inside the cover and on the fly wheel. the rear main seal will leak into the bellhousing and on the fly wheel the oil pan gasket will leak on the front of the heat sheild.

Why do you need to replace thermostat.? Is it not getting hot enough via the heater,or is the engine water boiling? Its usually at the end of the bottom hose nowadays, youll see a round housing, two or three bolts.Drain the water first,or undo the bolts, engine cold, and catch the water.Replace with an original thermostat, and double check the sealing ring is in place on the new one.Refill radiator.Run engine, check water level later, with heater on hot
