WERE IS THE TIME CHAIN

Looking at engine from front of car, the tensioner screws into the left side of the timing cover about half way up. You will see the hex head protruding.

CAr overheating

Hello and welcome to FixYa!

If you have overheating problem, it can lead to multiple issues. You may be running on low coolant that's why the vehicle overheats. If that's the case, please add coolant and make sure that it sits on the right level, too much coolant can cause overheating too for coolant will overflow.

The vehicle may have a faulty or worn out radiator blower motor that's why it overheats. If that's the case then you will need a blower motor replacement to resolve the issue.

If the radiator is clogged with dirt and rusts this issue occurs too. The coolant doesn't flow normally on the cooling system if it's clogged. If that's the case, I strongly suggest that you have the radiator flushed to drain out dirt and rusts. If you think that the radiator served you enough then it's better to have it replaced.

Please do check the radiator hoses, If you have worn out hoses it can cause coolant leakage which can result to overheating. A tiny hole is good enough for the vehicle to overheat.

A faulty thermostat sensor can cause the issue too. If you have worn out thermostat, the fan may not trigger that's why the fan won't work when under stressed conditions. A blown radiator blower fuse can cause this issue too so I suggest that you check the radiator blower fuse and replace it when necessary.

Hope you find this information helpful enough and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

Need a fuse box diagram for bmw 323i 2000.

The position of the fuses is normally marked on the inside of the fuse box cover and also in the owner's handbook. If you are looking for a blown fuse and you don't come right with these, work your way through the fuses looking for a blown one.

Got 2004 e46 318i and

You need to have someone very experienced with these cars look at it and give you a price on the repair.I am sure there is a european repair facility that has been in business for several years close to you.Whoever told you you needed a "valvetronic" would have given you a price on the parts and labor to install if they knew what they were talking about.Do not let someone guess at what is wrong , parts for this car are expensive and a good diagnostic will well worth the money.Sometimes mechanics will say you need a part that they dont install to get you to leave so they dont have to admit they have not got a clue what is wrong.Any professional will supply the diagnostic , the labor , the parts and a warranty on all .If someone sugests any other way I would be suspitious.Good luck! Let me know if I can help you find a shop.

Bmw overheating

do you have coolant leaking, how about along the radiator, or the waterpump? If your overheating and there is no coolant leaks. There is the cooling fan When the engine is cold the fan as it is allowed to slip, then when the engine warms up it viscousous fluid grabs and it spins faster, this allow for proper cooling at idle. To check the fan for proper operation at idle and at warm up temperature is the fan turning slow as you rev it up does it spin faster or does it look like it standing still, this will cause the car to run hot, here this now with the car at idle can you safetly feel the upper radiator hose and the lower is it at the same temperature if it not you water pump has failed, Because it ran hot the thermostat is now different in character and will no longer operate as it should and it will eventually fail,Now if you have a electrical fan does the fan come on when it is supposed to or does it come on at all.if it doesnt then it has failed, more than likely due to BMW way of doing things they still use the plastic waterpump propellor and they have a tendency to seperate internally and the radiator seam it cracks and coolant leaks out.

What does an orange diagram of engine light means

The amber colored engine lamp means that something is wrong with either the engine or transmission systems. Input sensors monitor the engine and transmission to be sure they are within factory specifications. With this information the computer can adjust things like fuel control, idle speeds, transmission shift points etc. If an input or output is not working correctly the computer will sense this an throw an engine lamp on the inform you that there is a concern. In most cases the computer will use information from other sensors to keep the vehicle running until repairs are made. In more serious cases, the computer will flash the engine lamp and/or put the vehicle in fail safe mode. Fail safe mode will limit the amount of fuel to the fuel injectors and sometimes limit the transmission speeds and throttle response. You need to have codes retrieved either from a dealer, service station or auto parts store. The auto parts store will usually do it for free but their tester may not pull all codes. Good luck.

I have a bmw 323i

Well the first thing would be to scan the compuetr to see if there are any codes stored, the computer always watches the engine and other components operate and if something is not working right then the computer will store a code with the componets name , for example if the crank sensor went bad the computer would give a code like po563 crank sensor malfuncation. the only problem is you would need a scan tool, auto part stores will scan it but if it doesnt run then you cant get it there, this problem could be a number of things, good day.

Airbag light goes on and

This is most probably one of two problems, if the light goes on and off whilst turning the steering wheel, it is most probably is the slip rimg which sends the neccesary signals to the steering wheel components. it could possibly have a break in it causing eratic contact.

However, these cars are known to give problems with the passanger and driver seat occupation sensors. these are pads within the seat that detects whether someone is sitting there in order to know which airbags to deplyoy in the event it would be neccesary.

The only way to determine wich component is faulty the vehicle will have to be tested with diagnostic equipment.

Got this code p0740, tcc

P0740 - Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Open

Possible Causes:
- Low transmission fluid level
- Dirty transmission fluid
- Faulty torque converter clutch solenoid valve
- Torque converter clutch solenoid valve harness or connectors
- Torque converter clutch solenoid valve circuit is open or shorted

Check your fluids 1st if they are low add fluid, and if they are dirty do a flush and a new filter. This usually will take care of it and save you money. TCCSV is a bit pricey try the cheaper route first. But it is located inside the transmission or on the side of the transmission. I dont recall exactly. Its something I would let a shop do though unless you have high mechanical skills.

Depending on your location, that sounds like the brake symbol. Is the emergency brake pulled? If not, does it come on intermittently? If it does, it could be low brake fluid.
