My 2005 Sierra 4x4 did the same thing while running down the interstate on vacation. Scared me to death, thought it was going to shift into 4 wheel drive @ 80 MPR. Had to take to shop and they found a censor bad and they replaced it. Don't know cost, because truck was still under warranty.

sounds like air in the lines.make sure fuel filter and wif sensor are tight.

You must remove the dash from the tuck. You will absolutely need the factory service manual to get this done. You can download them for a small fee here

The longer you drive with the shuddering the more damage you do to the rotors, most likely they will need replaced at this point. I wouldn't wait to terribly long. they may still be able to be turned and new brakes installed to fix it. They need to reset the codes after the repair though to clear the light.
