2008 pontiac g6 remote entry not working

If the truck release doesn't work change the battery in the remote. Take the key ring off and use a small screwdriver to open it up and replace the battery. Also check the contact. They tend to flatten out, just gently pry the up to ensure good contact.

Car with lock light on dash

GM factory security sytem light, flashes when you lock or unlock the doors. If a key is inserted into the ignition, and that key is not programmed into the computer, the computer shuts the engine down and car will not crank, and if I remember correcty, when that happens you have to have the car towed into the GM dealership, and they have to hook your car up to GMs tech three diagnostic system.

How do you unclog catalytic convertor?

To my knowledge there isnt a way to unclog them, you have to replace them. The catalytic converters on the G6, run about a thousand dollars a piece, and that without installation, and theres to converters. Go on ebay, I found both of my catalytic converters for around 300 apiece, and they were brand new, by a good manufacturer.

Oil leaking from above the oil filter

I had this problem on my 06 G6. The oil filter housing gasgket needed to be replaced. The oild filter housing is what the oil filter screws onto, and the housing attaches to the block of the motor, and theres a gasgket inbetween the block and housing. The oil filter housing is held on with three screws, and one is extremely difficult to get to. I also had to remove the belt and unbolt the a/c compressor.

Check gas cap message

Gas cap probably need to be replaced, their inexpensive. The gas cap controls the amount of air entering the gas tank, and only a certain amount of air is susposed to be let in while the car is running. If theres not enough air, or too much air coming through the cap into the tank, the computer will sense this, thus giving you this message

Transmission Fluid. Pontiac G6. 2006

The trannsmission is a sealed unit and there is no dipstick. Check to see if you have a leak. More than likely it sounds like your low on fluid at least a 1/2 to a whole quart. Since these are sealed units it should be taken to the dealership to have looked at. If there is not any leaks then I would add 1/2 qt of tranny fluid and try driving so see if it helped. If it helped a little but the same problems are still there add another 1/2 qt. If it doesnt solve the problem then your tranny needs to be looked at.

We have a 2006 Pontiac G6 that stalls while driving. We were told it was a bad fuel pump, we had that replaced and it was not the issue. Any ideas?

A good starting point would be to check fuel is getting to the engine cleanly. Partial fuel line blockage or blocked jets in the carb... It can be caused by running the gas tank to empty (any sh*t at bottom of tank can be drawn through fuel lines) make sure your air cleaner is ......clean. clogged air filter can do that too.. Red.
