The battery light coming on may indicate that there is a problem with the charging system. I would start by measuring the voltage at the battery with a volt meter. You should see more than 14 volts with the engine running. If you see less than 13 volts the alternator is not charging the battery, whether is be bad or possible not receiving the right inputs to allow it to charge. Dear Anonymous,I also have a 02 Xterra. I had a problem with my knock sensor also. there is no way to bypass the knock sensor, it is used by the engine when there is a knock to tell the ECM to advance or retard the distributor in order to stabilize the running of the engine. I have been told by my cousin who is a 20 year veteran Nisan Tech The knock sensor in itself does not need to be replaced unless you\'re doing a major job in which you have to remove the intake manifold because it sits on top of the engine block under the intake manifold. However, I am very strict when it comes to my truck, so I changed it. It is really up to you right now whether you want to replace it or not. If you take it to the dealer it\'s going to be very expensive! Let me know why you are looking to replace the knock sensor, you may be looking at the wrong thing.

wiper motors may be worn drawing tu much juice from alternator--or something in the module/computer network--get a factory scan done at a private mechanic for readout of voltages--a code reader wont do it--or hav wire harness inspected--or send issue to magicmechanic online-he wil reply and hes good.......

Have your battery checked it should read about 13.3 volts with the car off. If the batt. is discharged have it charged and then check your alternator to make sure it is charging.

you can but they are there to protect the under sid efrom heat damage as the cat can get extremely hot and damage wire,cable, pipes etc why do you want to remove them?

I thin its better if you tihgten it bac up so that your car floor will not get hot and increase the temperature inside your vehicle. Not good especialy in the summer time.

Would have to talk to you,drive the vehicle & take a scan tool along to look at data,then component test the vehicle If I could copy & paste that,I would answer every question the same way No one coming here says who is doing the work on the vehicle, so I assume no one likes or wants to got to repair shop If you went to a shop the problems should be gone,but they never are!
