My 2000 X Reg Almera 1.8 Sport has a failed crankshaft sensor.
I really don't know but the one I fixed had a plastic cover over the trans/motor housing under the middle of the car...After taking the plastic protecting house off you could see the sensor..the flywheel ....hope this helps but it was a different car...

I would take it to a parts store and see if they would put it on a OBD monitor, that would give the codes for problems the car is having.
The problem with 2002 nissan
your continually removing the battery terminal is what is causing the problem
the ECM cpu program is continually being corrupted by the terminal removal and when you wipe the codes ( read it as reset the ECM) it works fine until you touch the terminal again
permanent solution is ---leave the battery terminal alone

You started at the wrong end with the repairs. You have a 2002 starter, its old replace it. If your battery is 3 years old replace it too. I have never seen a Nissan cat. converter go bad (expensive) Let an OBDII scan be your guide to parts replacement. These cars a very dependable if you follow the maint. schedule in your owners manual. They rag out quick if you don't.
