I don't know but I recommend getting a repair manual. Electrical schematics in those books. I swear by repair books.

Raise up the car & put a battery charger on the starter batterycable & ground the blk lead to engine block

If the code is not in the owners manual book, you will have to call your local dealership with the vin number and possibly the radio serial number to get the code.

have you checked the fuses?

possibly faulty airmatic pump for suspension, first open boot and boot floor mat then have look on spare wheel, you can see your tools extra fuses and fuse diagram on it, take fuse diagram and read it you can find what's the fuse no and fuse box where is the airmatic pump fuse and relay is, check fuse and relay first, if the fuse blown replace same fuse for that now you know where are the extra fuses, get one from that, start engine is the car not rise up operate the switch above the radio still not working either faulty airmatic pump or control unit, you can check pump yourself turn steering fully left, remove clips from bulkhead inside wheel arch only need to remove front section then have a good look inside you can see airmatic pump is hanging on chassis rail under the right head light, have a good look wires on pump if it dried and broken that's the fault, only solution either repair pump or replace new pump. if not the faulty pump you have to get diagnose the car by experience technician, is this information helped you?

does the front bumper need to come off in order to replace head light assembly on 2003 s500?

What light is coming on?? Maybe a pic could help identify the light if you aren't sure how to discribe it

Hi Anthony, Believe it or not, this is a very common issue in most of these model, I personally own an 2000 S500 myself and I have this problem too, I already checked with others who with the same model car and they have also experienced this issue. Here is what worked for me and others that have taken the same steps I'm about to layout to you... You can do this yourself or you can pay someone to do it for you, It may cost you approximately 100 bucks. If you decide to do it yourself you may have to consider some special tools to remove Radio, Dashboard or CD Changer whichever you may need to repair, level of difficulty is about 6 - This also depends on your ability to work on such projects...Most of the time, the reason why the audio system device stops is because your CD Changer has seen better days,... As matter of fact, Models such as S500 2000 - 2006 had a recall regarding the static charges in the truck causing audio system failure on CD Changer and other electrical components. However we all know that, Mercedes Benz Engineers have seen us coming...Trust me! Isn't it interesting how the car start to decompose right before our eyes and electrical components starts to go immediately after the warranty runs out or right after you finished making your last payment. ;-) Anyway... remove the rear CD Changer located in the Trunk on the rear left corner of your car right below the rear tail light, remove the carpet, then remove the silver metal thin cover plate exposing the entire CD Changer, locate the screws the holds the CD Changer in place... This is the hardest part I don't know where they're on your vehicle, but be patient... you may need a small mirror attached to a stick, a flash light, gloves, a special screw driver for Benz, Search for a Video on you tube on how to remove the sound system on a s500 and you will see what I mean! Once you remove your CD Changer, you will need to connect a wire back to where the CD Changer was plugged into, and your radio should start working after that! Just to be safe I would disconnect the battery cables to avoid damage to your system... Hope I was able to help you get your awesome sound system loud again... Good Luck!

Hi Joey, I've never heard of that happening before. It must have something to do with the steering wheel lock mechanism, which is mechanical. Did you buy the vehicle new or was it a used vehicle and do you have service records. If you do, go through them and look for a job when the ignition switch was replaced and get in touch with that shop. If there is no record get the barrel, lock and switch replaced. Have the shop also inspect the steering column for wear. Do not try to drive the vehicle at all we all need you around. Book the vehicle taken into an authorised dealer and ask them to send a recovery vehicle. Regards John

Hey bud, Joey here.... I don't know if you have already fixed your air suspension problem yet, if not I may have the solution for you. I personally own a 2000 S500 myself, and I know how costly this job can! I been there and done that! Trust me!... I can relate to you my friend... I already changed all four of them. However, I didn't know then, what I know now, I didn't think about these sites before, to do exactly what you are doing... your homework! So I just took it to a Mechanic Shop and they not only took too long to find used parts, they wanted to charge me over $1600 each. So, after waiting two weeks I ended up taken it to a dealer and I paid over $4000 for the rear ones only... So, in order to help you avoid committing the same mistakes, I have done my homework for the front ones and I paid only $750 each installed, If you live in NJ/NY area I can get them for you... respond to me and let me know if you still need them. Also tell me if you have 4 Matic drive. PS. If I'm not mistaken dealer charges $1500 plus for the Air--suspension system alone!...
