2005 Dodge Caravan - Page 7 Questions & Answers
Is this possible to get more than 230,000 miles in a caravan 2005. And what should i have to do to be driavable
Most likely you'll have to replace the motor and have the transmission rebuilt. It is also recommended to go through the whole vehicle and do a complete inspection that includes brakes, steering and suspension parts, the cooling system; basically anything that has the possibility to wear or wear out. You might have replaced or repaired a number of these items already but it is always good to be a full inspection on a vehicle with this many miles.
Running problem.
More likely a fuel delivery problem and highly likely related to the use of ethanol-based fuel.
Replace your fuel filter, and verify sufficient pressure at the fuel rail. Replace the fuel pressure regulator and/or the fuel pump as indicated by pressure test. Verify that rust hasn't clogged the fuel pickup strainer in your gas tank, and (as a precaution) replace ALL FUEL with fresh (ethanol-free fuel, if possible).
If you have not performed a major tune-up on the vehicle (including plug wires and coil packs) within the past five years or 50,000 miles, do so.
Could alternator keep a car from starting
·Make a simple test of the alternator:
If you can, somehow get the engine running, measure the voltage at the battery. It should be at least 13.6 volts to properly charge the battery.
Dosge caravan 2005 sxt 3.3 i been replaced my radiator 2 times and i saw a little leak so any advice for this
Hi Armando, I'm AL the owner of Big As Auto Repair.
I look forward helping you with your problem!
Armando, after replacing a radiator you sometime can have what we call residual leaks which mean old coolant can get trapped in the frame somewhere and falls to the ground later which means you may not have a problem at all because its old fluid from the original leak. Here's what you need to do, CONTINUE to watch for coolant falling to the ground while also keeping an eye on the coolant level because if the level stays full and the coolant your seeing goes away after a few days then your OK. If you continue to see coolant falling to the ground and the level falls in the radiator then click here for further assistance:

Why won't my caravan idle?
TPS - throttle position sensor failure. Do yourself a big favor and buy a Haynes Manual for the caravan/voyager/town & country and then buy a cheap fault code reader. An Aktion is about $100. Look up any fault codes in the Emission chapter in the manual. You may also have a vacuum leak... look at the vacuum diagram under the hood and trace every line carefully and examine the hoses that go from the air filter box to the mass flow sensor manifold. (It all plastic and rubber and tends to crack with age allowing unmetered air to enter your engine making the mixture lean... this is why you have to add more fuel to it to get it to burn properly.) Your EGR valve may also have a fault causing that symptom.
Repair leaking engine freeze plug
is the side freeze plugs or the ones between the engine and trans ? either way knock the leaking one out hit one side of it and turn it side ways in the hole and pull it out with pliers if its hard to get to you may have to make room but you can replace it with an expansion plug or oem style plug
Lost all gears in automatic trans. got drive back, still no reverse. suggestions??
OK , first did you check fluid level ? and is it light pink and clean ? next you need to check linkage at trans to see if there is a problem with shifter moving trans through the gears ? after that then we are looking at internal problems which means you need someone who knows transmission repair to go through and check everything , torque converter, valve body, computer controller, lots of internal parts can cause different gear position loss.
