Some cars are programmed this way. Try selecting parking lights instead of dipped or off. If it works and only parking lights are on then I’m right and dealer can reprogram this for you (or maybe it’s user programmable- have a good read of manual)

You might try spraying inside of the latch with some contact cleaner. The latch contains the micro-swtich that signals the control module that the latch is made. It sounds like you are not getting a good contact at this switch. If cleaning doesn't work, you might need to have the latch changed.

You didn't say what year or sub model Will be either a door lock motor assembly (the four doors); which has door switch built in, grounds the purple & white wire, or the hood switch, or the tail gate switch.
