P0601 code
PCM power train control module (computer) failure. Do not buy the part from a auto parts store. Buying a rebuilt one may not be wise either. The car dealer is the best place to buy a new one to make sure that you get a very good replacement part. But I will leave it up to you to where you get a new part. This code number only is for the PCM only.
Where is the VCT located on a 08 Pontiac G6 and is it easy to replace myself?
The FSM cover this 100% as does ALLdata.com
like all DTCs (you forgot yours, that be bad.....)
the car store scan too can in fact miss many important other DTC errors that greatly help solving the riddle.
in all cases the PCM sees an VCT error
in all cases it can be these things. (FSM shows ways to find out) read it.
1: the sensor bad
2:its wires are bad, cut or it fall off.
3;the cam driver is loose, change or belt as the case may be.
4: the actual VCT bits are bad.
since NO DTC posted all answer WILL BE wrong.
next time get a real shop to scan car with a real scan tool
that reads all.GM codes, not the O;really cheap box.
the post those.
some CODEs do say ,exacltl what is wrong.
for example, the sensor voltage it so high.
that is a bad sensor or wires.
other codes will decode to like, the cam angles are changing oddly.
(lots of causes)
Why is my car making (dry) noise when stopping or getting out of car? I can duplicate noise by rocking front of vehicle.
By rocking do you mean rocking the car up and down? When you put on the brakes does the car lunge or dip forward? If so, the problem may be the front struts. The struts on a car are a commination of shock absorber and spring. If the strut is shot the car will bounce up and down. Struts are replaced as pairs.
Have the car checked out at Firestone Tire or Monroe Muffler, or if you have a local repair shop that you use, go to them, and ask for an inspection of the front struts.
Why is the air bag light on in a pontiac g6 se1 2008 and how to fix?
Did the thief remove the air- bag? They are valuable items on the black-market. Take your Pontiac to the local GM dealer, and have it checked-out.
Note that the thief may have done other things:
1. hidden drugs inside the door-panels (don't cross an international border that uses drug-sniffing dogs)
2. drained oil from the differential or transmission or engine (something will seize-up if you drive any distance without oil)
3. drained brake-fluid (unable to stop your vehicle)
Get it towed to the dealer for a thorough inspection.

The computer for your car has a specific program for that car. You need to have the second computer flashed with your program, mileage and VIN number. It is extremely rare that a computer from another car, even the exact car, will work without the program being flashed.
