I have a 2007 Pontiac
typically your problem is in the column. That's for cars that have the shifter on the column. What's happening is the gears aren't lining up to put the shifter in the park position. Unless mechanically inclined you'll have to take into a shop.

I parked my car. And
TRY PULLING EITHER TO THE RIGHT ARE LEFT ALL THE WAY AS YOU TRY TO TURN THE KEY..YOU MAY HAVE TO DO A LITTLE WORKING BACK AND FORWARD ..IF THAT DOESN'T WORK YOU MAY HAVE AN IGNITION LOCK PROBLEM
When does this vehicle have to have tune up
owners manual should say. but car should see a mechanic every 3-5 thousand miles. that mechanic should look at your mileage and find what the manufacturer recommends being done at that time.
if you do your own maintenance and you think 30k is not enough miles on the transmission oil and it still "looks clean" and you reach 150k thinking the same thing. dont call the car bad names when you are walking. save fifty bucks to spend 3-5k later on a new tranny it just doesnt make sense. if you do your own maintenance look up for that specific mileage what needs to be done. just do it. it is not too much when u do it yourself. the dealer cost money. a tune up is really not supposed to be done all at once. tune ups where more from the 50s, 60s, 70s, nowadays we use recommended service intervals. 5k service - oil and filter
10 service- oil and filter, air filter,
15k service- oil and filter, fuel filter etc
20 oil filter air
25 oil filter coolant power steering oil
30 oil filter, fuel, trans
just a example it is way off. but just treat your car right. generally less than 300 a year and car will last forever.

The battery dead? Remove the battery cables and wait and then see if the key will turn. If it will not remove the key ( will it come out?) the key can be the wrong one ( maybe) you can have a blown fuse. Any fuse so you need to check them all. If the key will turn with the battery disconnected then put the car in park and turn the key off and remove it from the car. with the window down and the doors all closed and the hod open reconnect the known good ( charged Battery) with the battery connected don't open the door but reach in and put the key in and start the car. the doors should lock when the engine starts. reach in and unlock the door and get in and close the door. then turn the car off and remove the key get out and close the door and lock it with the key. wait a minute and then unlock the door with the key get in and drive away like normal. do everything though or you'll unset the reset cycle. Make shure that the break lights work as they control the unlocking feature of the collum.
Having problems with knock sensor
Here are some steps to check to make sure it is the knock sensor and not some other issue, and will help you find the location of sensor
Park your car on a level surface and open the hood. Make sure the engine is in park and the emergency brake is on. Start the car.
Step 2Locate the knock sensor on your engine manifold. The knock sensor will be located beneath the intake manifold just about at the middle of the engine. The intake manifold is where the exhaust pipes connect to the engine. It can be located on either side of the engine. The knock sensor will have a wiring harness coming out of the top and be set into the engine block.
Step 3Strike the intake manifold above the knock sensor with a crescent wrench, do not hit the sensor itself. Listen to the sound your engine makes, you should hear a small change to the sound of the engine; this is the timing being adjusted by the knock sensor to accommodate the detonation you just created by hitting the manifold. If you do not hear the engine make that adjustment, your knock sensor is not working.
