How can I open the trunk/boot with complete

use jumper cables to power the fuse box or whatever hot point you can find in the engine compartment. The big terminal on the starter solenoid or the back of the alternator are both hot points. Connect the negative jumper to the engine or a bare metal spot on the chassis. Be careful to only touch the hot terminals with the positive jumper, and just touch the terminal long enough to open the boot.

Where is the battery located on a 2007 Jaguar XK

Hi, the battery is at the rear of the trunk/boot compartment, remove the floor panel (lift handle and pull the panel out) then remove the luggage cover 9the soft "blind" that is moved when lowering the roof) this lifts backwards and up. There are four small round "knobs" at each corner or the vertical panel facing you at the rear of the compartment (the rear of the back seats) remove these by unscrewing counterclockwise (they then pull out) the vertical panel will now come free when pulled to reaveal the battery in the top left hand corner, it has security bolts on the front retaining bar and 10mm bolts on both terminals and the right hand safety retainer. (NB the positive terminal is on the right, the negative terminal on the left) I hope this helps, regards, Baz

Is is possible to repair a power aerial which has

I don't think you are going to repair it, it will need replacing, a coat hanger will work, but won't look too good on the jag. Unless you have some special tools that will crimp on the antennae. Maybe a radio installer can do it, those guys are pretty handy. Hope this helps.

Car is auto, wont crank

The possibilities in the electrical circuit are a bad battery, bad power connection at starter or fuse block, bad ignition switch, bad neutral safety switch, bad starter solenoid, bad starter field or brushes, or bad engine ground strap.
The mechanical possibilities include binding engine or bendix grear on the starter.

But a voltmeter across the battery and ensure it is 12.5.
When you try to crank it should drop to 10.
If it does not, then current is not getting to the field, so it is before that or the engine ground strap.
If it drops too low, like 9, then see what happens when you stop.
If it comes back up to 12, the battery is good but the starter or engine is binding.
If it does not come back up, the battery really is bad and at least needs to be charged and/or replaced.

Roof lifting only a short distance not far enough

Hi

Its sounds like the system needs more fluid in it and also will need bleeding through, you can do this your self, do you know where the reservoir for the fluid is located? normally in the boot.

A garage should be able to do this for about £30

Regards
Dan

My parking brake will not relase on a Jag xk8.

I worked in a Jag shop back in the '70's in Los Angeles, but I'm from New England, where this is a BIG problem, unless you use the parking brake ALL the time.  Actually this is true for all vehicles!
If the case is that you don't usually use the parking brake, and then you go to use it, it will sometimes lock on due to rust, corrosion and dirt in the cable.
SOMETIMES, if you are very lucky, you can drown the cable in WD-40, soaking it several times a day, from inside the car, and under the car as well, if you can get to it.
Each time you do this, hold the release button and work the lever over and over so that maybe it will release.
If this doesn't work, then you have to replace the cable.
Sorry that it's not an easy fix.  Ultimately you might have to have it towed to a dealer or shop to replace the cable.
Final thought...  sometimes the problem is with the levers on the brake assemblies, that can stick.  If you can get to them, give them a slight 'tap' with a hammer to see if they will suddenly snap open.  Make sure the brake lever is down and the button is held in by a helper.
If this is the case, a VERY light squirt of lube at the pivot points might keep it from sticking again, but be sure to use the parking brake often.
If the car is an automatic, the device that 'locks' the transmission when it's in 'Park' is called a parking pawl.  It is a small steel pin about 1/8" to 3/16" that gets shoved into a parking gear slot.  This is what keeps the car from rolling, so it's VERY important to use the parking brake to assist this, especially when someone bumps the car a little when they are parking their car!  Oh, and the parking pawl is most times the first thing into the tranny when assembling it, so it'a lot of work to replace one.
Good Luck.
