What is the torque specifications

I don't have the exact numbers on that but if you tighten the bolts that hold the hub to the steering knuckle to 45 foot lbs and the axle nut to about 135 fp you will be fine. Numbers there are not super critical. i assume you are replacing the hub as tightening the bolts will do nothing for a loose bearing. If you have play there the bearing hub needs to be replaced.

The speedometer stopped working as

If your car is a newer model there is what they call a speed sensor. The first thing I would do is to make sure that the connector is tightly snapped in place. If it is now I would then inspect the speed sensor itself. On the end of this sensor there is a small gear that sends electrical impulses that are converted by other systems in your car to produce a speed value on your speedometer. This sensor can be tested with a voltmeter.Turn the gear at the bottom of the sensor and measure the voltage .If the voltage produced doesn't reach .5 or > than you have a bad sensor.I recommend you take it to a local service station to have it tested because the voltage values are different for all cars. Also inspect the gear for damages such as broken teeth.

Speedometer was working sometimes so

Seeing that you went to the VSS first when this first appeared I assume the vehicle is new enough to have Electronic dash cluster. Based on teh progression you have stated and what you have already done that would indicate a problem in the Vehicle ECM or If equipped BCM module but it could be the cluster itself. The only way to be sure would be to replace these one at a time or to take it to a dealer so they can diagnose the problem with their computer. While compared to the other parts the instrument cluster is actually an inexpensive replacement it still cost a significant amount. IN your place I would replace the cluster and make sure all the connectors were secure and no bare or exposed wires. If that doesn't fix the problem then take the vehicle to the dealer and ask them to DIAGNOSE ONLY the problem with their computers. This usually cost around $60 to $100 and then you can decide if you want to have them replace fault or do it yourself. Of course it may be a better solution to have them do the diagnoses first then do the repair just in case it isn't the cluster.

Stabilitrak disengages

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

As a first course of action I strongly suggest that you open the hood and remove the positive battery connector to reset the system. Once the system is resetted we may get rid of the problem. Sometimes the computer needs to relearn itself for the car to work normally again.

If the problem still persists I suggest that you have a PCM swap. The PCM may be faulty causing the stabilitrak disengage. Once swapped please observe how it goes.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

2006 Buick Ranier - One

I suggtes check few recalls about the Trans...

Recall Number: 2001226; Units affected: 64
2002: Certain 4WD vehicles were built with a range shift collar in the transmission transfer case that contains cracks. This condition could result in a complete fracture of the range shift collar and subsequent loss of vehicle forward and reverse gears, and the inability to maintain “Park” position. This increases the risk of a vehicle crash resulting from unintended movement of a parked vehicle.
* Correction: Dealers will replace the transfer cases and update the control module calibration.

Recall Number: 2001252; Units affected: 1,068

2002: Certain sport utility vehicles Trailblazer and GMC Envoy (four- wheel-drive). The calibration of the automatic transfer case control module or a range shift collar that was not machined properly may cause insufficient high speed gear engagement. If the gear is not engaged, the vehicle can roll when the transmission is in “Park” and a crash could result without warning.
* Correction: Dealers are to perform a “clean neutral” test, as described in the bulletin and if the ratcheting noise is detected during the test, the dealers are to replace the transfer case.

Visit your dealer for details about application to your vehicle.

Hope helps.

Not getting power to ac

If the fuse is good the next thing is to see if you have B+ at the AC switch. Then turn the switch on and make sure you have B+ out of the switch. Check for B+ with the switch on at the low pressure switch. Jump the switch if there is B+ and see if the voltage stays the same or if it drops as it should. If no change in voltage you have an open circuit or a bad relay between the low pressure switch and the compressor clutch.
Let me know if you need further assistance. Kindly rate my solution. Thanks. Kevin

My gear shifting has started

Hi,

Inspect the shifter boot for being caught/trapped in the shifter assembly

If the shifter boot is NOT caught/trapped in the shift assembly, refer to Ignition Key Cannot Be Removed from the Ignition Lock Cylinder in SI

the tumblers in the key switch have screwed up.It could also be a bad ignition switch, or the gears between the switch and the key cylinder.
unfortunately in order to check any of that stuff, you must first remove the key cylinder, and in oder to do that, you have to turn the switch to the run position so you may end up drilling out the tumblers. I'll post instructions on how to take it all apart below
