I was told to tap

I think someone has misled you. Even if you were able to get it to work by tapping it, you can be sure the problem is going to come back. You need to have that starter tested if you think it is the problem.

I have a Mazda mx3.The fuel pump was replaced.Changed the fuel pump the car will no longer start. I removed the hose coming out on the fuel filter and its getting fuel at least that far.

Why did you replace fuel pump? Did you buy a dealer pump or cheap aftermarket unit? Just because it is new does not mean it is good. Have you run pressure test?

Setting timing marks

Mr. RAGSDALE. I do not know if you did strip the belt yet or not. If you did not,I will advise you a just easy and good way to do it yourself. String for the stripping, you just remove the outside belts and pulleys, remove the plastic covers of the timing belt. Just put on the crankshaft the pulley bolt and slowly slowly turn the engine until you see all the marks aligned. On the Camshafts the two sprockets do have the letters "E" and "I", E= Exhaust and I= Inlet.means that the inner to dashboard side is the inlet cam and to the vehicle front the exhaust cam. These two cams with the letters must be aligned, with the crankshaft sprocket having on the side a small groove which mus be aligned with a small point ball behind the sprocket on the cylinder block. There are your marks. Loose the tensioner and remove the belt. Good Luck!

1992 Mazda MX3 is sweeking when I turn car

Sounds like the belt, you're right on track. Check the belt(s) and replace if neccesary. If belts are fine, check for tightness. Should be about a 1/4" flexibility when you push down on them. If all is ok, belt dressing should take care of the problem.
Now, if for some reason, one of the components that run off the belts may be going bad, specifically a/c compressor. If it's starting to lock up, it will make your belt squeal and finally snap.

I drive a 92 mazda mx-3. not sure if this is part

Check for vacuum leaks, cracked or broken hoses. Clean the throttle body and idle control ports with oxygen sensor safe carb cleaner. Last of all and most important is to get the idle control valve motor tested, it may not be responding quick enough to the sudden change in engine speed to keep it idleing. Also popping the clutch while in your highest gear will not damage anything, at least it never did for me. Don't do it in the lower gears at high speed, it will over rev the engine and that will cause engine damage.
