2008 Nissan Altima Hybrid - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Why is My steering very strong
Ok, first, if your car has a hydraulic power steering system, you should first want to check the pump/fluids. If your power steering is electrical, the problem is, most probably, related to the control chip (lots of reports are coming up regarding electronic-power steering control systems). You didn't describe the problem very specifically, so I can't give you a straight answer. The power steering assistance can lock (it can happen on the road) if you don't make proper maintenance. Please, look for the manufacturer to replace the defective parts as soon as possible, as this is also a safety matter.

How do I reset maintenance light
To reset "Maintenance Notice" on the display, turn the ignition key to ON, with engine off. Select the "Maintenance Schedule' key by using the button to right or left. Using the button select the "Reset" key and push the "Enter" button.

I have the "Service Engine Soon" (SES) appearing
IF you are absolutely certain YOU know why the light is on ... and there is no other reason ... you can probably have this code cleared by someone with a SCAN tool ... expect to pay for the service ... and probably pay near what it will cost to repair the problem. When the mechanic clears the code, he or she will have to get enough money to "recover" when you come back in a few weeks and say HE or she DID IT AND NOW MY CAR WILL NOT WORK.
Please don't kill the messenger ... Thank you
Thanks for using FixYa.com

Mechanic wants to change my
Power steering flush can't hurt. In fact flushing the power steering systems on some vehicles has solved power steering issues. Power steering fluid is one of the few fluids that is not filtered. Yet it is subject to contamination, heat cycles, shearing, and compression just like many of the other fluids in your car.
Unless there is a problem with the fuel injection system a service is not needed. I’m happy to assist further over the phone at

2009 Altima Hybrid shutdown
I just had the same problem with my 2009 Nissan Hybrid, this happened once in the parking lot and once on the street, I took the car to the dealer Friday October 16, and they found nothing wrong.
It is a dangerous situation, especially if it happened on the freway at high speed.

I cant reset the maintenance for rotating tires on
Hello and thanks for using FixYa!
To reset it, when you get to the rest point, as long as it's high lighted, then go back it will then be clear. It doesn't clear when you hit reset, it clears after you hit reset, high light it, then back out of it.
Thanks Jay!

Car not starting
I think that the keys are constantly sending out signals so the battery dies fairly quickly. The good news is that it takes a standard CR2032 battery that can be purchased anywhere, and that replacing the battery is a pretty simple thing to do.
I just purchased one of these from a rental company and the first thing I had to do was replace the battery.

Tire maintenance
well check your tire pressure..and have you replace any half shafts or anything..check your if your tires need balance it will turn on too or if your alignment is off it will turn that light in i would suggest going to your nearest tire dealer ship and having your tires check, balanced, and all that stuff it will shut off..
