The up28 vacuum pump stayed running after the car was shut off and it was very hot is there any thing wrong with it

I had the same issue, reason Of the vacuum pump to work continuously is either a leak in the vacuum pipes btween the pump and master cylinder or "which was my case", the vacuum switch or sensor between the master cylinder and vacuum pipe is not functioning properly. Replaced and everything works fine.

How do you reset the immobilizer for a 2007 volvo s40?

Your ignition needs replaced. They weren't the best on Volvos; especially if there is a lot of weight on your keychain.

How do you check a bad ground in my headlight socket for my 2007 volvo

A good way to check for ground continuity is to use a multimeter. If the socket has two wires , one will be positive + 12 volts DC or so. The other wire and connector in the socket will be the ground. Put the multimeter on DC volts, 20 volt range, and place the probes into the socket. If you know which socket wire is positive, place the positive(red) probe in that socket connector, and the black probe into the other connector, which is the ground. When you turn the headlights on, you should get a 12 Volt reading, more or less on the meter. If the meter shows a negative sign or the needle deflects to the left on an analog meter, reverse the probes in the socket. If there is no voltage reading, giggle the wires in the socket to see if the problem is in the socket. Also, keep the positive probe in the socket and make good contact with the black probe on a part of the car body. If the meter shows 12 volts then it shows that the socket is getting current (Voltage), so you know the positive wire is good. You can also check for continuity of the ground wire. Turn off the headlights. Put the meter on the continuity setting. On this setting, when you touch the two probes together you will here a buzzing sound. Place one probe in the ground connector of the socket, and make contact with the other probe on a good ground on the vehicle. It doesn't matter which probe is connected to ground. I there is a good ground, the meter will buzz. If it does not buzz, there is a bad ground betwwen the socket and the vehcile ground.

2007 Volvo S40 will not start

alternator belt braking would not stall the engine but your dash would of lit up like a christmas tree. you will need to have the engine on an obd reader to see what the problem is. did the belt snap or was it stripped ? alternator over load would cut the engine out check the fuse in the engine fuse box there is 2, 80 amp fuse in there check these are fine.

2007 volvo S40 will not start after replacing alternator belt, smell gas after trying to start

I am thinking faulty injectors and/or excessive fuel pressure in the fuel manifold . Run fault codes again ensuring that the cables used and the procedure to connect is adhered to as there will be a fault code recorded but not being read

Jumped the battery and immediately the lights came

Load test the battery if possible, but more than likely the battery has become unable to hold a good enough charge to start the vehicle. I would also clean the pos. and neg. terminals of all corrosion and make sure they are tight.

Black smoke and bad fuel consumption what is the

Hi there:Black smoke is caused by excess fuel that has entered the cylinder area and cannot be burned completely. Another term for excess fuel is "running rich." Poor fuel mileage is also a common complaint when black smoke comes out of the tailpipe. Black smoke out the tailpipe is the least cause for alarm. Excess fuel will usually effect engine performance, reduce fuel economy, and produce a fuel odor. How did the fuel get into the cylinder in the first place? Some of the causes of excess fuel are a carburetor that is out of adjustment, a faulty fuel pump, a leaky fuel injector, or a faulty engine computer or computer sensor. If black smoke is present, check the engine oil as in the white smoke example to make sure excess fuel has not contaminated it. Do not start the engine if a heavy, raw fuel smell can be detected in the engine oil. Call your mechanic and advise him of what you have found.Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.Thank you for using FixYa.

Signal too high

Checking the wiring
Check the cable between engine control module (ECM) terminal #B23 (#C23) and leak diagnostic unit terminal #2. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage.
Remedy as necessary.

How to replace cabin air

This is really difficult... A friend of mine tried to fix this and it took over an hour. Anyway this is how he did it.. First take off the panel from behind the radio. (3x T25 screws) Then remove the big panel under the steering wheel.

Then you'll need to remove the accelerator/gas pedal. To do this remove the
3 x 10mm bolts underneath and the 2 on top. When there unbolted remove the gas pedal.
Drag the carpet back that's directly under the steering wheel to show the black cover panel with 4x 7mm screws that underneath. Take those screws out and the cabin air filter will be underneath. Replace filter and put everything back together EXACTLY how you dismembered it =)
