Can i use a slim jim to get the door opened?

Should work if there is no theft guards inside the doors which would make a slim Jim useless. Pay a locksmith to open the door. They have some specialized tools to get the door open without damaging anything.

Where can I find the cruise control fuse on a 2008 hhr

The odds of a fuse being the problem with a non operating cruise control are astronomical . Knowing how the cruise control works is a must in trouble shooting . The different modules involved ,the GMLAN serial data network etc... Here is the factory repair manual description . Cruise Control Description and Operation Cruise control is a speed control system that maintains a desired vehicle speed under normal driving conditions at speeds above 40 km/h (25 mph). Steep grades may cause variations in the selected vehicle speeds. The following are the main components of the cruise control system: ?€¢ The accelerator pedal

?€¢ The brake pedal position (BPP) sensor

?€¢ The body control module (BCM)

?€¢ The cruise on/off switch

?€¢ The + RES switch (equivalent to resume/accel switch)

?€¢ The - SET switch (equivalent to set/coast switch)

?€¢ The engine control module (ECM)

?€¢ The clutch pedal position (CPP) sensor, if equipped with a manual transmission

?€¢ The throttle actuator control (TAC) motor

?€¢ The vehicle speed sensor

The body control module (BCM) monitors the signal circuit of the cruise control switches, which are located on the steering wheel. The BCM relays the cruise control switch status to the engine control module (ECM) via the GMLAN serial data circuit. The ECM uses the status of the cruise control switch to determine when to capture and maintain the vehicle speed. The ECM monitors the vehicle speed signal circuit in order to determine the desired vehicle speed. The ECM uses the TAC motor in order to maintain the vehicle speed. For further information on the TAC system, refer to Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) System Description for the 2.2L engine or to Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) System Description for the 2.4L engine. Ignition voltage is supplied to the cruise control switch from the 2-ampere EPS fuse located in the integrated BCM fuse block. The cruise control function switches are arranged in a resistive ladder design, with each cruise control function switch having a different resistance value. The BCM detects a specific voltage value that is associated with the cruise control function switch being activated. When the normally open cruise control on/off switch is turned ON, the switch closes and the BCM sends a GMLAN serial data message to the ECM indicating that the on/off switch is active. Similarly, when the normally open + RES switch or the normally open - SET switch are pressed, the switch closes and the BCM detects the predetermined voltage signal on the cruise control switch signal circuit. The BCM sends a GMLAN serial data message to the ECM indicating that the + RES switch or the - SET switch is active. The + RES switch or the - SET switch will remain inactive when the BCM has not received the predetermined voltage signal from the on/off switch. Unless the air bag light is lit too , your best bet would be to take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop.

2008 Chevy HHR front rear control arm bushing installation

Hi Dan: If you have a micrometer (fancy word for a very accurate measuring tool) you could check, BUT, the odds are you have the right bushing and it is indeed a VERY tight fit. Mechanics trick......... - Put the new bushing in your freezer overnight and KEEP IT COLD until you're ready to install it. - Put the part of the control arm that will receive the bushing in some boiling water, or heat it with a torch provided there are no parts that will be damaged. Working quickly, locate and insert the bushing. A press or large "c" clamp may make the task much easier. Cheers.

I HAVE A 2008 IMPALA I JUST GOT A NEW ALT,AND BATTERY BATTERY SAVER ACTIVE COMES ON AFTER IT RUNS A FEW MIN WHAT COULD THE PROBLEM BE

Electric Power Management The vehicle has Electric Power Management (EPM) that estimates the battery's temperature and state of charge. It then adjusts the voltage for best performance and extended life of the battery. When the battery's state of charge is low, the voltage is raised slightly to quickly bring the charge back up. When the state of charge is high, the voltage is lowered slightly to prevent overcharging. If the vehicle has a voltmeter gage or a voltage display on the Driver Information Center (DIC), you may see the voltage move up or down. This is normal. If there is a problem, an alert will be displayed. The battery can be discharged at idle if the electrical loads are very high. This is true for all vehicles. This is because the generator (alternator) may not be spinning fast enough at idle to produce all the power that is needed for very high electrical loads. A high electrical load occurs when several of the following are on: headlamps, high beams, fog lamps, rear window defogger, climate control fan at high speed, heated seats, engine cooling fans, trailer loads, and loads plugged into accessory power outlets. EPM works to prevent excessive discharge of the battery. It does this by balancing the generator's output and the vehicle's electrical needs. It can increase engine idle speed to generate more power, whenever needed. It can temporarily reduce the power demands of some accessories. Normally, these actions occur in steps or levels, without being noticeable. In rare cases at the highest levels of corrective action, this action may be noticeable to the driver. If so, a Driver Information Center (DIC) message might be displayed, such as BATTERY SAVER ACTIVE, BATTERY VOLTAGE LOW, or LOW BATTERY. If this message is displayed, it is recommended that the driver reduce the electrical loads as much as possible. See DIC Warnings and Messages. .

Had my tired rotated, since then my Service ESC light comes on along with the brake "brake fluid" light comes on. I'm not sure if it something serious or i just need to unhook my battery and reset it.

check brake fluid level and make sure no leaks if low fill to proper level and check brakes it low change them as to esc when tires were changed workers may have hit sensor or damaged wiring by front end or a bad sensor sometimes rarely some hhr owners state a hiccup and reset the computer and it was fine but before you do that check and make sure brake system is correct and safe usually brake resets itself when repair or fluid is corrected

I'm having problems with my 2008 Chevy HHR - acting up but no dashboard warning lights showing. Please see details below for a full description of what's happening.

Most likely sensor connections and signal delivery to ECU. Road salt creates corrosion problems in connections. Start with a very careful visual inspection of all wiring from sensors and their connections. Double check connections of Throttle position sensor. that may not have a good connection even though it was? replaced. There may be some relationship with speedometer and ECU. Fuel supply system may be a problem. Fuel pump, Fuel pressure regulator, Fuel pump relay. can cause erratic behavior.
