I have a 2000 cadillac deville dts and when i go to fuel up the car will take maby 5 bucks of gas and then it will begin to overflow if i anymore gas is put????

More then likely it's a problem with the vent valve solenoid for the evaporative emission system . Evaporative emission system Image: pinstake.com The Evaporative Emission Control System (EVAP) is used to prevent gasoline vapors from escaping into the atmosphere from the fuel tank and fuel system. The EVAP system usually requires no maintenance, but faults can turn on the Check Engine light and prevent a vehicle from passing an OBD II plug-in emissions test. If you were to wait a few minutes and try to add more fuel, would it take it ? Sounds like the main vent for the tank is blocked.

2000 Cadillac Deville DTS 4.6L HO Northstar

Well, I don't think so. The pressure sensor will throw its own code (0450, 0451, 0452, 0453, or 0454). And likewise, the fuel level sender or sensor could also throw its own codes (P0460-P0464). I'm not sure the level sensor and the pressure sensor are linked together. They are separate on a 2005 buick century, the pressure sensor being at the top of the tank located on the fuel pump module, but Cadillac: anything is possible. Since you replaced the purge solenoid, there may be a problem in the circuit. The purge should have battery voltage to it with the key on. The ECM will ground the circuit internally when the purge is wanted. One symptom of a purge valve that isn't working or stuck closed can be a whooshing sound when the fuel tank cap is opened, indicating excessive pressure in the tank. A shop's scan tool could be used to command the purge valve on to check it.

The stability control system is typically triggered by the abs system/connector sensor on your wheel hub bearing. If you haven't replaced your hub bearings on the front you may have one going bad. Cheap fix for a diy.

Gas Overflow

Sounds to me like a bend/kink in your filler neck, or someone stuffed a rag down there. Remove the fuel filler cap and run a long, rigid wire down your filler neck - if you encounter significant resistance, remove the filler neck from the tank and investigate further.

The service stability system light is on, and also

The stability light uses the same sensor as the abs system . I would be checking out the wheel bearing adjustment as the disc may be touching the sensor causing a problem

Does 50 percent oil life means half low or need oil change

Some vehicles have a reading that starts at 100% and Counts down to ZERO. If your gauge is telling you that you are at 50% life, then you have 1,500 to 2,500 miles left before your engine oil change. This is ONLY as good as the last time you changed your Oil and someone RESET IT...If it was not reset, follow the Tag on your Windshield

Ground straps 2000 Cadillac Seville sts

Are you sure the engine is not grounded? Could be the starter relay. To make sure it is not a ground problem use a battery jumper cable and connect the engine to the negative battery post. Also make sure the battery did not lose its charge while working on the belt. Possible key left on.
