Starter barely turns over, cables good, battery good, starter brushes new, commutator clean. What next?

Needs new carbon brushes, or a relay has failed which puts all the power to the starter motor.

Toyota hilux abs indicator stay on

hi there. if your abs indicator light stays on its telling you that there is a fault. and the number one fault for this is usually a wheel sensor. you have one on each wheel. one or more will need to be replaced. then you will need to reset the abs. after. sensors are not easy things to replace. you need to strip down the brake drum/ disc which you have. and if your not careful you could damage them. the ideal thing would be to take it to the garage for this job.

I have a 5L-E toyota hilux that runs fine at idle yhen when you rev it to about 2000 rpm it starts to blow alot of white smoke. I have cut injectors out while the smoke is blowing with no noticable c

i believe the engine is running too lean as if it was running too rich it would blow black smoke If it was blue smoke it is oil related eg valve stem seals, valve guides and or piston rings all of these things will create blue smoke if one of the above is worn out

What is the problem fault code p1601

Toyota Hilux? wow no year, you do make it so hard to answer but is 96+ P1 means factory code, so autozones may fail. 5th generation 1996+ Engines:
  • 1988-1995: 1.8 L (1,812 cc) 2Y-U I4, 58 kW (79 PS; 78 hp) at 5,000rpm 140 N·m (100 lb·ft) at 3,200rpm
2Y I4, 61 kW (83 PS; 82 hp) at 4,800rpm 140 N·m (100 lb·ft) at 2,800rpm (export markets)[11]
  • 1989-1995: 2.4 L (2,366 cc) 22R-E SOHC EFI I4, 84 kW (114 PS; 113 hp) at 4,600 rpm and 192 N·m (142 lb·ft) at 3,400 rpm
  • 1989-1995: 3.0 L (2,958 cc) 3VZ-E V6, 112 kW (152 PS; 150 hp) at 4,800 rpm
  • 1989-1997: 2.4 L (2,446 cc) 2L diesel I4, 61 kW (83 PS; 82 hp) at 4,200 rpm and 165 N·m (122 lb·ft) at 2,400 rpm[12]
  • 2.8 L (2,779 cc) 3L diesel I4, 67 kW (91 PS; 90 hp) at 4,000 rpm and 188 N·m (139 lb·ft) at 2,400 rpm
my wild guess is the 2.4L due to OBD2 status. only...you need to say.. my motto: NO YEAR NO MODEL No engine size. (or transmission type A/T or M/T?, if that is in question) NO HELP (or your joy) No country , too , is a royal pain , all cars are different by country (laws)
