Check to see if the cable is seized. If it is free, then pull up on the brake handle 20 times to adjust the brakes. If that doesnt work then look at the brakes linnings.

sounds like low cylinder compression, black smoke indication of oil getting into the combustion chamber so rings, valves etc need to be tested

The code is for the #1 cylinder coil/igniter, replace the #1 coil pack.

White smoke indicates unburnt diesel. Does it smell of diesel from exhaust? sounds as if diesel pump or injector fault. When you say it has drained the battery do you mean it wont start or lights etc dont work. If lights etc ok then likely to be sensor saying no to engine going.
