When the engine is cold (even if the weather is hot) Cayennes start out in first gear. When it warms up a bit by driving, it will start in 2nd and won't go back to first until it's cold again.

Something is touching somewhere. Bad motor mount or transmission mount. Bad exhaust pipe hanger. something simple I think. If it was the motor issue the shop would have figured that out. use a stethoscope to find the spot or part it's coming from. You may have to get under the car while it is running this is very dangerous if you don't secure the car on solid jack stands and then do not put it in gear and get near the drive line or powered wheels they will grab ahold of your clothing and pull you right into them and that is fatal. be careful use smarts and find that vibration

All the actions that are made from the control switch are vacuum actuated and you very well may have a vacuum lien off or crimped from the switch to the blend doors/flaps. Though it may be a common problem with these vehicles, it is not "normal" and can be repaired.

I am assuming you are referring to the cam chain timing, not ignition timing. The ignition timing is non-adjustable. If you don't have a good repair manual, I would not venture into cam timing.

You need to have the CEL code read to find out the specific problem. This could be many things.

Remove cap off of rear wiper arm. Remove nut. As this is a fine splined shaft, you may want to mark the position of the wiper to reinstall it in the exact same position. Now you'll need a wiper puller. Generally found at your local auto parts store. This same puller can be used for the front wipers too. I purchased one for $10.00. Inexpensive compared to what I'm sure a dealer would charge.
