Whining sounds come from diffs that have a problem in the mesh between the crown wheel and pinion If yours is not front wheel drive then the noise may be from over tightened wheel bearings or failed bearings or the abs sender touching the exciter

Have you checked the cig lighter fuse ?

it may have tripped a sensor in the ignition, may need to replace it, would need more info on which dummy lights are on and what it does, hopefully this helps, or if you got it fixed, what was it? always looking to expand my knowledge on electrical/security system problems

TURN THE IGNITION SWITCH ON WITHOUT STARTING THE CAR AND IMMEDIATELY PRESS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL 3 TIMES WITHIN 5 SECONDS. IF YOU DON'T THINK IT RESET THEN START OVER AND DO IT AGAIN. HOPE THIS HELPS. LET ME KNOW. THANKS FOR USING FIX-YA
