Key code
Well you don't actually program the key, you put the car into a condition so it will "learn" the remote to use with it.
Procedure
1. First open a window (just in case) use existing key (if you have one) place in ignition and turn to ON (RUN position), do not start the engine.
2. Use the new key to lock the car, the key not the remote. Now press one of the buttons once on the new key transponder, the lights should flash, wait 10 seconds and press the unlock button, the doors should unlock and the key should be recognized by the car's security system.
3. If you are programming a second key repeat the above but press the remote button twice, three times for a third key.
Alternative Method
Procedure
1. Switch on ignition; system will then remain in programming mode for 30 seconds.
2. Briefly press any button on the remote control unit while the unit is in the ignition.
3. The central locking system locks & unlocks to show that the remote control has been programmed into the car's security system as a valid remote now paired to that car.

Could be throttle position sensor. TPS. Call the Car Guys and give them the details. They're both MIT grads and they also nuts. They will know what it is. I'm just guessing the computer but it might be a connection. http://www.cartalk.com/ Good luck!
When my opel astra 1.6ie is cold it struggle to start, and cant rev when its cold, but when its warm it becomes normal. Anybody have advice for me please.
Identical cold start issue on my Astra IE 1996 F series after the engine got rebored - after months the new oil pump was found to be faulty & clogged-up & replaced by the spares supplier - the car then ran perfectly after this. I was told the blockage created a backpressure & the computer was stopped it starting.
16 years later - 10 yrs after the last service covering just 8600km (last 2 yrs car hardly started) has identical cold issues again. It can be driven around & wont take long cold start in our warm coastal winters. The good mechanic seems to be giving up trying to fix my old car but refuses to believe its a low oil pressure issue saying that just makes the oil warning symbol light up & doesn't affect a car starting. I want to check if the engine warning light works on starting showing the low oil pressure sensor is working. But his now busy searching for a Astra specific temperature sensor.
Opel Astra 2L,2004 model misfiring cylinder 1&4 after engine overhaul
Hi did you do the engine overhaul yourself? if so I don't think you have any comeback, but, is a registered agent did the work, you should take it back and get them to rectify the problem at their expense as they are the agents for the Opel company in Germany. Incidentally, General Motors sold Opel and Peugeot, France bought it, so you may have a battle to get satisfaction. Good luck!!
