I would need to hear this knock to try and guess what it is. sorry.

What kind of vehicle do you got

1. Check if the ECU is throwing any error codes. Could be 2. O2 sensor(s) or/and clogged Cat converter 3. Dirty air cleaner 4. leaking injectors 5. Worn or broken rings: check the wet and dry compression. Might even be the ECU itself, running in "limp" mode because of a partial board failure.

Have a dealer check you computer. That controls the fuel regulation

run the fault codes. Check the colour of the oil and if it is a tan colour the change the transmission oil

Odd effects like this are often caused by poor grounds somewhere, and can be quite hard to locate. Go over all the connectors in the engine bay and remove/replace (R/R) them. Check all the grounding straps from the engine to the chassis. Try ALL the accessories to see of anything else is misbehaving. There's a big fuse box in the engine bay: open it up and R/R all the fuses. See if the problem stops.

Sounds like your bulb sockets are in the wrong location.

check tests in the FSM book yet? when you get a tranny code, there are tests to do. to find out if. the voltage to the solenoid are wrong. the coil open or the valve dead. or if the tranny is slipping and fooling the TCM. 31 LR solenoid opened read the in the FSM, it shows you what to test. on some A/t you can force it into manual mode and driver and shift manually (I have a test box, i made that does that to all cars) but you can do that and check for tranny slip and see that all solenoid infact work and can hold a gear. keep in mind the TCM is stupid as a brick it cant tell of tranny slips , if the solenoid is dead 6 ways from sunday in many cases, only that the RPM in the tail shaft is wrong. some can check the solenoid voltage. the FSM tells you if that is true or not, so not looking and reading that first makes tests harder.

i think this would be an expensive excersise,try removing the fuse to the central locking , because if you change the immobiliser system you will loose the central/power locking any way, i don't know what problems your experiencing but i've done this on our hyundai coupe because of immobiliser problems and unlocking drivers door manually ie with the key has cured our problem ,worth a try i'd have thought

just pull the cover off then unscrew the screws that surround the radio

have the car scanned it will tell you

check the wiring back to the ECM and check connectors for water or dirt.

If all voltages checked ok, then most probably its faulty instrument cluster board on which gauges are connected. Yes if cluster circuit board looks ok, then also it can be faulty. Somewhere there is minute short or burn on board then such problem arises.

Also check the fuse box. One under hood and other under dash.

Inspect each and every fuse and see if all are fine or not.

the dash lamp marked SECURITY IS DEAD all the time.keyon and off? fuse #2 missing,(security fuse)? remove the remote battery so the bad buttons in FOB do not trip the alarm I',m sure you mean factory alarm is in the car. in USA we can scan the OBD2 port and see why any alarm tripped. lots of ways there are, door switches, etc. lost the users manual tell you on most cars the alarm need be enabled. and how. most say , open the door with good fob. then do not lock the door using fob and alarm is not active. but with a dead fob how? (car came new with 2 fobs) lost 2nd? my answers are for USA spec cars only, not world wide. ever. doors with keyless entry system is what they call this. fob locks. simple have you examined the whole car for wiriing harness hacks that put in any kind of 1000 aftermarket alarms here, this is first. is the horn honking? the same horn the steering well uses or some other horn hacked in to car. ( we inspect all this first) the factory ETACS as its own fob RECEIVE inside (antanna) there are 3 fuses to ETACS. fuse 22 do not pull that it kills vast other things too. Fuse 2 and fuse 15 goes there but not sure what happens pulled but seems the interior door lock buttons go dead. doing that.. here is my only cure. pull the battery NEG lug for 1hour, or more even overnight see if ETACS , resets (well it sure will) but do so and not go into alarm and first remove the FOB battery (on all fobs for this car) see fob guts below 1 coin cell there , remove it, now bad buttons do not cause system to fail. open doors only with metal key. all instructions for this car assume the below is not bad. and buttons love to fail even SHORTED.(BAD)
