2009 Lincoln MKX AWD - Page 8 Questions & Answers
Hello I have a 2003 Lincoln Continental and I need to know about the air suspension does it adjust automatically it's not going up when we start the vehicle
there was an air pump as i remember that automatically adjusted the level, those systems (usually the shocks) were notorious for going out as they aged the seals went bad. it's an expensive fix ..a lot of people used to change that out for normal springs ans shocks or aftermarket air shocks. if you do that be sure to save the old ones because the car will be antique one day and it will keep a new restorer from locking everywhere for those shocks. BTW i'm almost certain they are "rebuildable if you can take some time with it.. keep in mind this is the worst case.. it could just be a bad pump or a bad wire, or relay or maybe a fuse.. .. just be prepared for it to be the shocks themselves .. good luck with it and don't let it get you down there is no need to make it a bigger deal than it is..
2003 Lincoln aviator 4.6K 4 valve is oil supposed to leak from lower chain tension-er when pressed on
no machine made leaks oil on purpose, to the ground, not told to where.
but my wild guess is you means inside the engine only, right?
we cant see what you are doing blind, no photos with added arrows.
oil leaks are bad seals, bad gaskets, loose part or casting flaws.
the
chain tension-er is fed by the
main oil pump gallery in the block.
yes the tension-er has an oil powered tiny piston, that might leak but leaks to the pan. buy new one see if it leaks.?
yes that old 19 year old part may be bad, or IMO is bad.
your old tensioner has built in seal on the back side and that most never leak. ok?? the blue seal does no leak
but the piston may to better lube the chain, but IDK for sure.
Driver's side power is not working on my 2000 lincoln town car
If the driver's side power is not working on your 2000 Lincoln Town Car, there could be several potential causes for this issue. Some possible reasons for the power not working include:
- A problem with the power switch or control module: The power switch or control module is responsible for controlling the power to the driver's side of the car, so if it is not functioning properly, the power may not work. You can try resetting the power switch or control module by turning off the car, unplugging the module, and then pressing the "Reset" button on the module. If this does not fix the problem, the power switch or control module may need to be replaced.
- A problem with the wiring or connections: If the wiring or connections to the driver's side power components are damaged or loose, the power may not work. You can try inspecting the wiring and connections for any signs of damage or loose connections, and tighten or repair any connections that are loose or damaged.
- A problem with the power components: If the power components on the driver's side of the car are not functioning properly, the power may not work. You can try testing the power components (such as the power window motor, power seat motor, or power door lock actuator) with a multimeter or other diagnostic tools to determine if they are working properly. If the components are not functioning properly, they may need to be repaired or replaced.
To diagnose the specific cause of the power issue on your 2000 Lincoln Town Car, you may need to perform some basic troubleshooting steps and tests using a multimeter or other diagnostic tools. This will help you identify the specific problem and take the appropriate steps to fix it. If you are not familiar with car repair, it is best to seek the assistance of a qualified professional.
96 Lincoln town car start issues/turns off when slowing down and driving
4.6L V8 will not start and run is the claim. cranks good. but will not start and RUN.what are miles on the odometerwhen did engine perfect (never , last year, last decade?) historybased on its age 26yowhen was the last full tune up, (filters and all new spark plugs and 8 new COIL pack HV wires sets?>test for spark is next, (if engine is good)so test fuel used work per below but now fails. seems like spark is getting worse to me. https://youtu.be/064Ilsz8Fzgspark test is show above too.the 2 huge coil packs must never be wired up wrong, per my drawing below.the old HV wires are no good for sure 26 years old.if HV wires are replaced, on doing so 1 by 1, works not mixed up or spark timing is wrecked.if spark is bad some 1996 lincoln have Securilock Engine Immobilizer PATS' system. (optional day 1 new for sure)if the IMMO lamp is not happy it will never startbad key is top cause, or low battery, not kept charged testing any dead engine.the immo lamp.to see why SCAN the cars OBD2 (usa) DLC scan port see IMMO errors, clear as day if lamp is angry. could have lost memory of the keys or you could have a problem with the pats module. If either of these are the case a dealer has to do the work because you need special equipment and programming to access the security functions of your carthe cars users guide tells how the key and lamp work. got 2 keys?
How do u change the transmisson filter on a 2000 lincoln ls
From the sound of it you really are going to need a transmission service beyond just a fluid and filter change. Generally speaking, when a trans. filter becomes restricted, it limits the flow slightly. You're more likely to take off more slowly and shift more slowly. Hard hitting transmission issues gets into the clutches and solenoids.
You can always take off the transmission pan and replace the filter, it's not that difficult if you know how to properly re-seal the pan after properly installing the new filter. U-tube has many videos of transmission filter and pan replacements.
Should I change my transmission fluid at 185000 miles
there is no answer to that (below Deity level grade)
to the word SHOULD
and the word WILL
no year told
engine option told and that tells what transmission is behind it
The EPA said dont;change AFT
the the maker of the tranny said yes at 60kmiles (most do)
EPA thinks you will spill it to the ground or a river and the maker does not lie (tranny maker)
now I will get my crystal ball out of the safe and look.
WILL it help or hinder.
well if the old AFT is all GUNKED UP nasty mess flush fill only makes it worse at 185k miles never done before at 60k and 120k.
all that gunk breaks up and lands where gunk, dirt and metal does do not belong.
the word CHANGING, well a simple drain only gets out 1/2 of it
out only a full flush and drain fully and refill works best.
YMMV
but but but
what if the engine is only weak
and power is Low from the engine,
what is it needs service , a tuneup.
a weak engine will make the tranny shift way late.
shifts slowly
my guess that means late.
but yes transmissions can slip.
this is witnessed by engine RPM rises fast and faster PRm
but MPH does not advance as RPM, that is slip (abnormal)
if 2nd gear is dead RPM might go 3500 easy never leaving 1st gear.
What is the problem with my truck and what's making this sound?
Sounds like it could be an errant backfire. Could be some electrical problem in the computer system, or the coil system placing an extra spark where one shouldn't be or perhaps a crossfire, where one plug wire is inducing a voltage into another. In the crossfire situation one plug wire would need to be running along side another, or at least touching another to induce the voltage. And yes, I've seen this happen before. Perhaps in your case hitting a bump might well put two plug wires close enough to each other to cause the crossfire.
Fuse box location on 96 lincoln
Lincoln produced three cars in 1996; the Continental, Mark VIII and Town Car. All three models have an instrument panel fuse panel (also called a dash fuse panel) located under the driver's side of the instrument panel. The Continental and Mark VIII additionally utilize a power distribution box on the driver's side of the engine compartment, near the battery. The Town car also has an engine compartment fuse box, however it is located on the passenger's side of the engine compartment, near the battery. You can find illustrations of these locations as well as procedures for how to check fuses and how to replace the fuse boxes here: https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/how-to-replace-your-car-fuse-box-by-jessica-howe
