You might want to adjust the aux (extra) air valve to bring the idle speed down.

Doubtful the valve is "stuck". More likely to be burnt. It happens. Do a compression check then pull the head off and replace the valve that is losing compression.

most likly find the rear brakes are not working verry well check their operation movement of cylinders etc

open glove box, read the users guide if lost it is free from JAG dealer. it cover all that. and yes all cars on earth , the battery can be changed with no damage done. for sure,100% but you need to read the manual first. and remove NEG LUG first first off , last on. cars with rear batteries have special rules for JUMPS do not fail to read the manual or damage will happen. cars with rear battery have a way to open trunk with battery dead, (all do) some are behind rear seat access others a cable latch lever to trunk lock. As you know, this is not an inexpensive car..PLEASE take this to a Qualified Professional..it will be $$$$$.. make sure they guarantee/warranty their work and for how long..(HE IS WORTH IT!!)

Check the fuel filter(s). Your long drive may have shaken dirt or old fuel gunk ("varnish") loose and plugged the filter most of the way. Enough fuel gets by to start the engine, but then it starves when you put it under load.

INTERMITTENT problems are one of the hardest type to fix online... you'll just either have to bite the bullet and take it to a competent shop it's a Jag, be prepared to fork $$$$ also, goto Jaguar owners forums so you can make a dialoge instead of one-answer sites like this i'd start with checking the ground circuits, beginning at the battery any check engine lights/ scan the car's ecm/ecu for any trouble codes to help you look for the particular circuit to trace the problem
