2004 Daihatsu Terios - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

The spark plugs are high up on top of the engine. You will probably need to remove the air filter box to get access to them. I'm not sure if the box is bolted down or a 'pull off' type. They are covered by the plug shaped coil packs. These just pull out and push back in. The attached photo has them marked with a red circle.

The cause could be a variety of things. I would think either a vacuum leak or sensor failure.

Most common fault is a sensor, possibly the engine temperature sensor or the lambda sensor. You should read you fault codes (DTCs) in a workshop or Google the procedure for "blink code DTC retrieval" . On Daihatsu you can do a lot of things by connecting two specific contacts in the diagnostic connector above the driver legs, then turn ignition on. Like DTCS, coding keys and remotes etc.

You must pull the transmission out. Don't force it as it will break internally.

Yes. you can adjust the tension on the brake. It will be under the car by where the hand break is or adjustment will be back by the wheel.

This is typically telling you that the pollution control system thinks there may be a problem. There are oxygen sensors and Engine coolant temperature sensors that tell the computer what air/fuel mixture to use. If the computer does not like the information that it is getting, it turns on the light, and stores a fault code that a mechanic can access. Hint........ if the light is on steady, it's usually not a big deal. If the light is flashing, there could be a serious problem. Time to talk to a service center.

sounds like you have a bad universal joint when you put it in 4 wheel drive ,

it is an electrical connectors to the sensors like knock sensor . make sure all sensors fitted and connected well...

The timing marks (dots) are on the sprockets.. Make sure you have these lined up perfectly (use a steel ruler) before dismantling anything! Then you will have No.1 piston at TDC (top dead centre) and the job will go smoothly... ok?

You can only replace the original with a equivalent or the paperwork will not be right and the vehicle will fail the annual inspection for failing top comply with the original certificate of homoglonation

Check the half shafts for worn CV joints is the 1st thing. Also so you think it may be a misfire, they usually happen in higher gears when engine load is highest.

could also be u-joint or axle joint bad
