Removal Procedure Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Open the rear compartment lid. Remove the remote door lock receiver (2). The receiver (2) is located between the rear package shelf and the rear package shelf cover, to the right of the center access hole. Compress the 4 tabs and slide the receiver (1) down through the access hole. Disconnect the electrical connector (1).

Hello , it could be a crankshaft sensor being the tac needle is acting this way.

Sounds like the crankshaft position sensor is failing. I have allot of experience with this problem. The sensor is located just off the crank pulley which it gets its signal from.

Gotta go to a dealer. They hook up a machine to match the remote to your car. Probably around $60?

If you're not getting power to anything when this happens then I would tend to think is a main connection of some sort. Check the battery connections, ground cables etc. Where ever the main cables connect at the battery, starter, and various connections. There are also more than likely 'body ground' straps or cables also. Check to see if all are clean of any rust or corrosion and are tight. Though not as likely, it MAY possibly be a battery which is loosing connection internally. I wouldn't recommend going out and buying a battery though. I would simply check the connections as suggested and go from there. Hope this helps.

There is an old trick using a bic pen top to release the lock on the connector. Take a Bic pen top . Cut the top about halfway. Then slit it on the side to open it up. Bend the pointed pocket point up to use as a lever. Take the top and clip it around the pipe of the filter then push altered pen cap toward the connector. Check with On-Star..Sometimes they down load software to keep current and the version may not be compatible with your auto.. this can sometimes effect the radio and retained power feature.Either that or the retained power system has a malfunction.

It may be an engine cooling problem, ie thermostat, pump etc. seems as thought the car's computer is shutting down systems to prevent some type of major failure. Have cooling system and even electrical system checked.

With the key off, pull out the relay and use a test light or voltmeter to find the hot terminal in the relay socket. Then use an ohmmeter to find the terminal that goes to the pump. The pump terminal will show a few ohms to ground, whereas the other two terminals will either show zero ohms to ground or will show infinite ohms to ground. Use a short jumper wire between the hot wire and the pump wire.

I would be looking at fuel pump and the next question would be to check your fuel cap. Does it fail if you was to remove the fuel cap. You may be losing prime this way. If so the purge value in your fuel pump would be bad causing it to lose prime.
