Shifting into higher gear problems with 2004 yukon xl

The shift solenoids may not be getting the correct signals from the transmission control module . Read the codes to see if it's the solenoids or the module.

Short in electrical system?

when the radio is OFF sound comes out of the rear speakers when the blinkers are used ! There isn't a turn signal flasher on your vehicle ,( like most all newer vehicles ) It's done electroniclly by a control module . In the case of your vehicle , the BCM - body control module . It doesn't matter if the radio is off . All the Audible warnings come out of the radio speakers . Headlamps left on , key in ignition etc... You have no idea of the complexity of your vehicle , it's a rolling computer , with a serial data network for the modules to talk to each other , share info. When the turn signal switch is placed in either the left or right position, a ground signal is completed from the turn signal switch to the BCM. When the hazard flasher switch is activated, a ground signal is completed from the turn signal/hazard switch to the BCM. The BCM then sends an ON-OFF voltage signal through the fuses to the appropriate turn signal and side repeater (export only) lamps or to all of the turn signal fuses for hazard operation. Really don't think you have electrical short . Computer glitch maybe , radio problem . How ever , these system's are not for the untrained to mess with . Your best bet , the GMC dealer !

Both are possible but from your description it sounds like the truck is in limp home mode. You need to put a scanner on it and see if any codes are set. Then repair the code and reset it then see what happens.

Electrical short?

Most likely a loose serpentine belt on the engine or it needs to be replaced and is squealing when you press the gas.(fan belt) Why go to the dealer?Talk to friends for info on a local garage that has a good reputation. Always get an estimate on any repair, don't just drop your vehicle off and sign a work order without a price and description of what they are going to do to fix your vehicle.

2001 gmc yukon engine revs up at 20 mph changed trans filter (screen) still have same problem

If you mean it "flares" trans may have major issues. If you mean it fails to shift to next gear, likely bad shift solenoid, easily changed by dropping trans pan.

00' yukon xl no heat in front but works fine in back

You might want to try back flushing the heater core. This is probably your problem. If you know where the heater hoses go into the back wall of the engine compartment then feel the hoses. They should both be hot to the touch with the engine at operating temperature. If one is hot and the other you can hold your hand on it all day. Then try flushing the heater core.If it warms up some or gets any better. Then this is your problem.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Yukon xl 2003 code p0894

That is a major code and may require repairs right away.Your transmission is slipping.

check your transmission fluid. tjhe fluid should be clear and free of grit. you can also smell it. if it smells burnt or it's gritty you need to get to a mechanic. If the fluid seems fine, you can try flushing it, clearing the code and monitor it for a bit and see if the code comes back on. if it you have a problem and will need to get some work done on the transmission.

The longer you drive with this kind of issue the more expensive it will be to fix the transmission before it completely fails and you ruin your transmission and possibly your engine

if your mechanically inclined and have the tools i'd say get to work and pull your transmission and do an overhaul. this will save you half a grand in labor.
otherwise start calling around and find out the cheapest repair show that will do a rebuild and replace the parts that have burnt out. let them know of any signs you have had that your transmission has been going out. such as grinding of the gears while shifting, etc

good luck.

If ethanol has ever been used in their vehicle after using gasoline, it gums up engine and fuel system. You have to use gas for these vehicles even though they have the flex fuel option because of this because it'll drag the vehicle's perfomance down.
