How do I know if the bulb or ballast is bad? Light will briefly come on sometimes and then go out which leads me to believe its the ballast. 2007 Escalade

Regarding the headlight, usually you have to try a new bulb and see if the condition persists. If it does then replace the ballast next. The seat heater probably has a broken filament so the heater is an open circuit. That requires a new seat-heater element. As far as the defroster, call a glass shop (one that does automotive) and see if they have the ability to repair it. The odds are that you will need to replace the glass : (

2000 Cadillac Escalade - All

Do all these things quit working at the same time? If so, I would be looking at my main power circuits - like possibly a bad ignition switch.

Starter went out ,replaced, now

When you removed the old starter and installed the new one, did you disconnect the battery? If not, you may have shorted something out. If you are positive you are not getting fuel to the injectors (carborator); turn your key to the on position just before starting it - and listen for the fuel pump to engage. If you do not hear the fuel pump, then you may need to replace it.
If you do hear it, then you may have a plugged fuel filter, or plugged injector(s). Even if only one is plugged, the car should still start, but would run poorly. Replace the filter first to see if it's the filter and for good measure replace the air filter - these two sorta go hand in hand as they air and fuel mixture is crucial for proper engine operation. Also, check to see if there is a secondary filter (fuel) in the engine compartment. If so, (this is an inline filter) replace it as well. This way you know that both fuel filters (if two) are good, as well as the airfilter. Also, if the old air filter looks torn, ripped, shredded, pull the air hose off the the throttle body (intake) and make sure it's not plugged. This will hinder the engine from starting - if the car has sat for a length of time, rats may have climbed inside it and ate through the air filter. When attempting to start, parts of this could be drawn into the throttle body or the air hose blocking sufficient air flow.
Last, if the fuel filter(s) and the airfilter do not make a differnence, and the fuel pump is engaging; it is possibly the fuel pump relay, or the fuel pressure regulator.
Please let me know if you need further assistance.

I have a remote control

all charged batteries will only take what they need. You need to make sure it has the same voltage output. and at least the required amperage. If the amperage is a little more it is OK. Also it has to plug into your device.

2003 escalade with on star

No diagram that I have lists a specific fuse for the display, but there is one tagged INFO. look st the fuses. In the lower right corner there are four fuses in a square pattern. Of those four, the INFO fuse is the upper left one, a 15 amp fuse. That seems to be the most likely one for your problem, if it is a fuse problem and not a failure due to a burned out display or a broken wire.

My a/c blows hot air

Most likely if it is blowing hot air, and everything including compressor seems to be working, it needs a charge of freon. You can pick up a bottle of freon at Auto Zone, they sell bottle of freon and even has a guage on it. If you drive the car in there and pop the hood, they will show you where you hook it up. It even tells you step by step on the can how to do it. But just to give you a recap of how you do it: You first have Auto Zone tell you the connection on your car where to tap the hose off the can to. You start engine, turn on the AC at full speed, and shake can real good, hook hose up to the connection that Auto Zone showed you, and turn can ( light shake) while its hooked up from a 12 noon position to a 3 O'clock position back and forth while depressing can every 10 seconds. Pretty easy to charge your own AC.

Now realize that the reason your car is just blowing warm air, is most likely it is low on freon, but don't forget it is very possible it is low or out, is because of a leak. DO NOT get suckered by these auto shops saying, you have a leak and we have to do this and that and all that. Cause they will charge you a lot of money to check it. First step is to try and charge system first and see how it works. The freon can at Auto Zone runs around 30 bucks, worth the cost to see if that solves it. Otherwise a shop could cost you a few hundred for the same results of just charging like you did for 30 bucks. If this does not work, then you can have them put system under pressure to see if a major leak in line somewhere. Thanks Mike
