Mercedes-benz E200 Elegence A 1998
Common problems with all mercedes remote, check the fuses, I had all three vehicle in the past for the same common problems as long as you can still lock and unlock all the doors by using the switches inside of the vehicle therefore the electric motors to the doors locks still good and not faulty; very seldom your remote module to the doors lock will fail. common problems with remote when trying to lock the doors the driver doors refused to lock. unlocking the doors most of the time with no problems. alarm work fine with key fab light flashing nothing works.
Fob won`t open or close
The remote control must be reset if the vehicle does not unlock.
- If the vehicle is locked, open the driver's door with the mechanical key in your remote control.
- Press the unlock button on the remote control.
- Insert the key into the ignition lock and turn one position to turn the ignition on (lights register but don't start engine)
- Turn the key back to the original position to turn the ignition off again.
Then Try.
If still the same then other reason for this may be
The motor for the unlock button must be bad. Or the cable is not connect properly.
Also chreck out the key fob battery is it proper or got faulty.
If still the same then try this before buying new fob
Take the fob apart and clean the contacts, they get what looks like grease on them and can be wiped off with a paper towel or napkin .clean all the stick material internally on the contacts.and then again connect the fob properly and then try.if still the same problem then it needs to be replaced.
Please do rate the solution. Thank you for using fixya.keep updated. thanks
My 2004 mercedes-benz s500 radio turns on then says system unavailable and shuts off. I've tried to reset it to no avail
post all things that fail and work both
all maters
engine starts , runs , drives ok ,day or night?
all other electrical things on the car ,as in ALL do in fact work correctly?
or just the RADIO on the car fails.
many cars now the RADIO is part of the CAN , the car Area Network. and if that fails so does the RADIO.
if is in fact a factory RADIO there from MB.
what to do.
well
check all fuses first. never skip the easy first step and a 50cent cure..
next scan the USA? OBD2 scan port, and look for Radio errors
like COMM failures codes.
can I assume this RADIO is not SDAR , satelite radio
if is did you path the subscription bills? $$$$$$
or
the RD is base Radio and both are in fact CAN bus controlled
so yes, it must be scanned first, after fuses
sorry this is no simple 80s radio, not at all
and is antitheft protected too.
i request this post be moved to cars and not computers.
here is more than 1 fuse, the RD shows 2, F1 and F2
my online docs, are not so good, on all MB.
get the car scanned in any shop.
see the DTC error codes. next.
