2006 XC90, telling me "engine
If it a turbo model (petrol or diesel) there may be a loose or damaged hose to or from the turbo or intercooler, preventing charge air entering the engine. to have a quick check (this may or may not work, but it's worth a go) open the bonnet/hood with the engine running and listen for any blowing, sucking or whistling noises when the engine is revved. also, if you know anyone with an ODB2 diagnostic unit, they would be able to plug it in (socket under dash) and tell you more accurately what the problem is.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. You need to test the wires hooking into the alternator and leaving the battery first.
I find it difficult to
Your key may be slightly bent. If you have a second key try that one to see if the problem reoccurs. If you don't have a second one go to the dealership and have one made. The new key will likely need to be programmed at the dealership.
My tailgate won't unlock when
You did not mention the model of your vehicle, but the usual problem with tail gates is that the ground wire through the hinge breaks in two. Also, the power wires through the hinge opening can fatigue at the bend point and break inside the insulation.
I need to know how
I quote for one XC90, it is the cable and it is snapped. So now to the fun part explaining...
First you have to go the the truck area. Remove the top plastic cover
near the head rest. Then the small cover that is spring loaded, it
covers the end of the seat and pivots when you move the seat up and
down. Under that you will see there are two hex screws take those off.
Once those are off you should be able pull the back down and up exposing
the inside of the seat. Un-hook the Leather and take off the padding.
This will expose the metal frame. you will see a black cable running
from the bottom of the seat to the top of the seat. Unscrew the plastic
fitting housing the cable on the bottom of the seat and the top of the
seat. it should be self explanatory from there.
Hope this helps.
My xc-90 sometimes will only
Hello
I am not sure exactly what the problem is you are having here, "will only shift between drive and neutral" gives me no information as to what the car does, do you mean the transmission will not engage? please clarify this problem. Also has the Transmission control module (the transmission is electronically controlled) been tested for fault codes with a scanner?

it is not normal it could be the timing chain tensnor or lifters, try changing the oil and add sea-foam or some other oil treatment. if noise does not go away run a oil psi test and hope and pray that the oil change fixes it.
