no VIN posted(fail)! well there are lots of speeds sensors VSS ,and 3 transmission sensors, and 4 ABS speed sensors. we can't just guess what is wrong or what DTC scan errors pop up.? did you scan the VW yet? start a post not with HUNTS nebular,but state a problem? of some kind,.

Issue with your key. Try using the spare key. If it doesn´t work the inmobilizer has an issue. Immo is located in the ecm and instrument cluster (transponder). Call a vw dealer or someone who have acces to immo off.

You need to call out a mobile mechanic to ascertain what the liquid is and see what electrics you have ripped out. Or get your favourite garage to tow it to them.

open glove box read users guide or get them free from VW or google for it. RTM get it and read the manual and keep it for the next time./

Question edited for a lot more clarity. Question moved to VW. It depends. Check the the inside at the back of the release lever. If you can see the tail has broken, you can pull the cable with locking grips. If it has broken under the bonnet / hood, it is more difficult and requires going in through the grille or from underneath.

key fob for remote?, what does remote do.? key fob or remote start options, or add on's tell what fails first so we can be on same page. door locks or? radio or remote start?

If it frozen, that rules out a disconnected linkage. Unfortunately, this is a little known model and whereas I can always find fuse box diagrams, for yours I can't. If you have a test meter, you can test all the fuses without removing them by testing for continuity at the two contacts on the top of the fuse. Something is very sticky. See if you can lubricate the lock mechanism with WD40 to free it up.

VIN ? (USA car?) what is the problem ("still does the same thing", does WHAT? (wrong or good or both) did you add wireless remote starter on this car, did it fail before or after the ADD. THE real KEY SWITCH FAILS TO CRANK THE ENGINE. IS THE STARTER MOTORS DEAD AND SILENT? FIRE to Solenoids?, gets 12vdc power not fire, a voltmeter measures all this if you use one., there is no FIRE there ,it's voltage (power) surely no 98 car came with factory remote start, (SM says NO) so there is a story to tell but not told nor full symptoms told , using a normal key or this wireless secret device./< none told. worse yet cars with IMMO, the manual tell us flat out, not compatible with remote starts (none-OEM)\ there are no 2 aftermarket (non-OEM) remote start kits the same. for sure safeties.. Did you use a pressure bleeder and bleed air from the caliper up to the master cylinder? It has ABS so you can't do it the traditional way.

is it a 4 cylinder or 6. on a 4 cylinder its 1 3 4 2 number 1 is in front close to the radiator they are 1 2 3 4 so with the order run it down did this help any?
