the sm shows how to prime HLA they can not just be put in dry. HLA = hydraulic lash adjusters , aka lifters but never tappets. not talking rockers. Active Fuel Management (AFM) it shuts down valves this AFM and to 4 cylinders so defeats rock+HLA. to do that and is complex. smoking is just oil that fell from valve cover pulled and oil lands on the exhaust manifold, etc. you did not say smokes in the engine bay or at rear of car. changing and HLA, does not allow oil to fall past head valves ever. unless valve seals are gone or cracked in half, but what will be, will be. the sad story is here, nothing simple about any of this and expensive to fix see the horrors there of owning complex (VDE,variable displacement engines now and in the past, all FED mandated junk) https://www.onallcylinders.com/2017/11/30/how-to-delete-or-disable-active-fuel-management-afm-on-gm-engines/

1. The computer sends a signal to the LOMA.
2. The LOMA solenoids open.
3. Oil flows to the special lifters through the AFM towers.
4. This oil collapses the plunger inside the lifter.
5. The collapsed lifters will not engage the pushrods and both valves remain closed.

I have a similar issue in my 2009 Sierra 1/2 ton. I have no heat. The truck does not have A/C. I pulled off the kick plate to see if I could see the blend door actuator but it is not there. It must be the one I saw on you tube..below the airbag. Not too confident about pulling the airbag. It might be the heater core as I get good airflow in all locations. Suggestions appreciated. :-)

This is very complex , first thing is have the vehicle checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes stored in the BCM , PCM ! The body control module (BCM) monitors the signal circuit of the cruise control switches. The BCM relays the cruise control switch status to the engine control module (ECM) via the GMLAN serial data circuit. The ECM uses the status of the cruise control switch to determine when to capture and maintain the vehicle speed. The ECM monitors the vehicle speed signal circuit in order to determine the desired vehicle speed. The ECM uses the throttle actuator control (TAC) motor in order to maintain the vehicle speed. You need the dealer to scan the Body control module for faults.

Simple answer is replace the radio, GM does not service any internal parts on radios.

Hello Brian, Sounds like you blew a fuse. Check the connections, grounds and fuse for the Center High Mounted Stop Lamp. Schematics here: http://bbbind.com/free_tsb.html

Did you check low beam fuses for voltage, with headlamps on lo beam? Use a testlite to check for voltage. In the diagram you see the lo/hid relay, correct? I'm not saying the relay is faulty, you need to check voltage and ground. The bcm and dimmer switch are involved, I don't know if check for headlamp/lighting trouble codes will help? Don't replace anything unless your testing points in the direction.

You have a short somewhere. You might have some wires melted. I would disconnect the battery to prevent more damage. Visually check the fuse box and the fuses. If you find anything burnt or smell something burnt. Have a mechanic trace the short to repair.

cruise control module has failed. or if your brake lights are staying on, then brake light switch has failed and not allowing cruise to engage. Have someone stand behind truck and see if brakes are working properly, if not- replace brake light switch. if fine, then swap out cruise control module under hood.... prob find one at a junk yard.

Are the fans running on low or high ? Circuit/System Description The engine control module (ECM) commands the fans ON in either high speed or low speed, depending on cooling requirements. In low speed, both fans are turned ON at a reduced speed. High speed has both fans turned ON at full speed. In low speed operation, the ECM applies ground to the coil side of the fan low relay. This energizes the coil and applies voltage directly to the left cooling fan through the switch side of the fan low relay, which is fed by the fan 1 fuse. The right fan is connected in series to the left fan through the de-energized fan control relay so that both operate at low speed. In high speed operation, the ECM applies a ground to the coil side of the fan low relay, the fan control relay , and the fan high relay. On the fan high relay, the energized coil closes the switch side of the relay and applies voltage directly to the right cooling fan through the switch side of the relay, which is fed by the fan 2 fuse. At the same time, the ECM energizes fan control relay pulling the switch side over, providing a direct path to ground for the left cooling fan, which has voltage applied through the energized fan low relay. In high speed mode, the fans are operated as a parallel circuit with full voltage applied to each. You should have it hooked up to a scan tool that can read engine sensor data parameters . Check for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes etc... Circuit/System Verification

1. If DTCs P0480 or P0481 are set, perform those diagnostics first.
2. Ignition ON, verify with a scan tool that the control module is not commanding fan activation.
3. Ignition ON, observe that the fans are not activated.

Your best bet is to take it to a ASE certified repair shop !

DTC P025A: Fuel Pump Flow Control Module Enable Circuit The engine control module (ECM) supplies voltage to the fuel pump flow control module (FPCM) when the ECM detects that the ignition is on. The voltage from the ECM to the FPCM remains active for 2 seconds, unless the engine is in crank or run. While this voltage is being received, the FPCM closes the ground switch of the fuel pump and also supplies a varying voltage to the fuel tank pump module in order to maintain the desired fuel rail pressure. Circuit/System Testing

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the FPCM.
2. Ignition OFF, install a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 13 and ground.
3. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates for 2 seconds.
?‡' If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
4. If all circuits test normal, replace the FPCM.

Relay for what ? Which engine do you have LY6 or non LY6

Evap system has many parts , cannister,vent and purge valves ,fuel tank and cap, first is the fuel cap on and is the seal in good shape. You will need to inspect all vauum hoses that leave the cannister if all ok then get the valve and solenoid tested for stuck open
