The battery will only cause that if the battery dropped below 10 volts, and it was running before so it is unlikely to be that. Your problem is electronic and likely to be a sensor at the simplest, or the ECM at the worst. You need a local auto electrician with a pro grade scan tool. I would suggest you take the vehicle to a Good Auto Electrician and get him to repair it. The wiring loom on any vehicle is installed as a single bundle of wires so removing and replacing sections isn't usually possible. A good auto electrician will be able to diagnose and repair the broken sections without having to replace major sections of wiring.

Using a voltmeter check for battery voltage at the motor , if voltage ok replace motor if no voltage check for blown fuse or faulty switch .

If it's a front wheel drive motor it's on the drivers side near the steering column and is near the firewall on rear wheel drive engines it's under the windshield wiper cowl on the passenger side of the engine

You have a Parasitic battery drain, check at night for interior lights that may be staying on, check the sun visors for sure.

Most starters are simply bolted into place. A good socket set and a pair of grips should be enough. The bolts could be tight and difficult to get to so you might need to work underneath the vehicle. Safely lift and support the vehicle on axle stands before you do this.

I'm assuming it's a fuel injected engine. If so, and you can't see an in-line filter after tracing the lines, it's probably in the fuel tank. If the fuel supply, return, and vent hoses go to the top of the tank, pull the carpeting or back seat, whichever is above the tank, and look for a screw down plate. When you remove the plate, it will give you access to the housing for those items.

If it is stuck open, no idle......If stuck closed, spark knock during acceleration.........
