There is a setting for the engine called a "cold start sequence". This is activated by a cold signal from the water temperature sensor. If this sensor is stuck on the HOT setting the engine will not go into the sequence.
Some engines have 2 sensors with one operating the dash gauges and the other working the engine controls.
Some can be changed when the engine is cold without much coolant loss others you would need to catch drainage.
Could be caused by a few different thing's ,dirty mass air flow sensor ( if your vehicle has one ) A worn TPS - throttle position sensor , dirty throttle plate .

I do "driveway repairs" at my house, and this one could take you many days, and dozens of hours, not to mention the special tools you might need.
Look at the job in one of the books, or go to a shop and give the man or woman 5 or 10 bucks and ask them how to do it before you start.
Your car may be down for many days, and perhaps once it is done, you might decide never to try that again!

The electronic's , control modules , driver door electronic control module ,the lighting control module , SCP serial data communication network . You have no way of fixing this . A factory scan tool would be needed to check communication on the SCP data network .
