Adjust headlamps on 2008 Jag Vanden Plas

  1. Park your car on a level surface, facing a flat wall or garage door. Make sure the car is at a normal operating temperature and that the headlights are turned on.
  2. Open the hood and locate the headlamp adjustment screws. These are usually located at the back of the headlamp assembly, near the firewall. There should be one screw that adjusts the vertical aim and another that adjusts the horizontal aim.
  3. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to adjust the screws. Turning the vertical screw clockwise will lower the beam, while turning it counterclockwise will raise the beam. Turning the horizontal screw clockwise will move the beam to the right, while turning it counterclockwise will move the beam to the left.
  4. Adjust the headlamps one at a time. Cover one of the headlamps with a thick cloth or cardboard to prevent any stray light from affecting your vision while you adjust the other headlamp.
  5. Aim the headlamps so that the center of the beam is at the same height as the center of the headlamp lens. The horizontal aim should be straight ahead, with no visible lean to either side.
  6. Test the headlamps on a dark road to make sure they are properly aimed. If you notice any unevenness or misalignment, make further adjustments as necessary.
  7. Close the hood and enjoy your properly adjusted headlamps.
It's important to note that if you're not comfortable working with car electronics, or if you're unsure about any of the steps involved in adjusting your headlamps, it's best to consult a professional mechanic or authorized Jaguar dealership for assistance.

Restricted performance warning

This is common if your throttle is electronically controlled and not cable controlled like (older cars). If the throttle body main butterfly sticks for a fraction of a second because it's cold and the throat is full of carbon, for safety the computer will kick it into that mode. This can also happen if the throttle sender unit on top of your throttle peddle is faulty ... or kicked and the plug is not all the way in. A simple code reader can reset the issue but if it happens again start by cleaning the throttle body.

1996 Jaguar xj6 sunroof will not close you can hear motor running, how can you manual close it?

If you remove any gear that is coupling it to the motor you should be able to slide it back to where you want. I would put gear back just to hold it in place and keep it from moving. But you do have to replace that gearbox for future operation.

My 1996 jaguar vanden plas trunk switch on the driver side of the car doesnt work and my key doesnt work. How do i hotwire the trunk to make it open?

check fuses and relays --check power to switch and test switch if switch bad replace and if need access now can jump switch to release actuator --but if key doesnt work either the problem sounds like a damaged latch or debris stuck in latch lock --if key turns try pushing down and up on trunk if latch is not cooperating then will need to remove rear seat

2000 jaguar vdp driver window wont open when pushing button you hear it click but nothing happens

give the interior door panel a couple of heavy thumps with your hand it may work again for a while the normal prob is caused by sticking/worn out motor brushes the shock releases them and the motor works again. if so then that confirms the motor needs changing. if not check the wiring/connectors to the motor, but the motor is most likely the cause. hope this helps.

Where is the kill switch located

The reset button is behind the carpet, just above the drivers foot pedals (right hand side on a right hand drive). It's function is described in the owners manual, which may be located in a slide at the top of the glove box.

How do I unlock & open drivers side door, when key & key fab won't work?

Why won't key work in door? Most likely not used? Spray wd-40 in door lock and insert key moving it back and forth in a sawing motion. This will usually free up a sticky lock and you can then turn it. Most lock out companies use a long metal rod. They will pry back the top of the door where it meets the roof and insert a wedge to hold the door slightly ajar and then insert the rod which has a hook to catch the lock and unlock it. A coat hanger unfolded will usually do the trick with a little patience. If not, the only other way is to disassemble the inner door panel ( usually causing damage ) to get the door open

Can I turn off the Trunk Open warning that is stuck on, on my dashboard?

Hello, The obvious action to take would be to trace down the component that has failed/shorted/ etc and replace it/fix it so the light on the dash goes out properly. If you have done something like this already to no avail then you could try taking out the corresponding bulb in the instrument cluster itself. You may need to remove the cluster but the bulbs tend to come out pretty easily. I never recommend and am not currently recommending anyone ever take out any bulbs in the cluster as it can be misleading especially upon resale. But for daily driving purposes and convenience, ill throw that option on the table.. Hope this helps

Right front passenger door will not lock.

sounds like the latch actuator has failed, i dont think it has a seperate fuse for each door, you could check that you havent got a broken wire in the door wiring around the door hinge area. the actuator is part of the latch, but you may be able to get just the actuator which is easy swap over, check the wiring first, you could use a test lamp or circuit tester on the connector to the actuator to see if it being powered up when you press the plip. latch the door shut before testing, good luck.
