My 2002 jaguar goes in
Sounds like a solenoid or a stuck servo in the transmission. Have it scanned and pressure tested to determine the cause.

How much for a starting inhibitor for an 83 jaguar
what in the world is a
starting inhibitor?
why not post a problem first, an end goal?
what is failing or tell a goal .
my wild wild guess is , a car alarm that blocks the stater motor ?
that is a super old car.
and will have vast $$$ problems
is this an upgrade question?
we sell no car parts here so there is no COST
we only do free words in a text box here. 100% free
the costs of all things are not the same on earth.
so use google + buy to see those prices
no goal or problem told. just nebular, starting inhibitor
if need and alarm on the car (and blocks cranking)
ask a shop in your town for help and or advice.
in some towns USA there is a store called Car Toys
I like that name but every town as place to install alarms.
any major sized town. (parts and labor)
Have a 2004Jaguar XJ8 with message air suspension fault. I have replaced the air pump and reservoir but still get the message. What can I do?
Many things will cause the air fault to come on...I have yet to ever see the retention tank ever needing to be replaced...But if or when it was installed the neg battery terminal should have been disconnected always.I assume the code c2302..Under the hood is a relay #4 on the passenger side ..check it and make sure the fuse is good.Second, the system has parameters in the air suspension module with regards to the time for compressor to fill the reservoir.Something like 3 minutes to hit 14.4 bar. If it takes longer, the asm will store code C2302. Easy to diagnose. C2303 is more of a problem as it is for air leak. If you come out and see the car sitting on the ground, you may want to tow it. As long as suspension is up, ok to drive. Either way, take it in soon .

Fault code p1797 s type 3ltr petrol 2005 car not starting help
P1797 = Neutral Switch Circuit Malfunction.
I am assuming yours is an automatic. On Automatics there is a switch on the transmission that can override the ignition to prevent the vehicle starting if it is in gear. This code is showing a fault in either the wiring to the switch or the switch itself.
This is one of those jobs which depends on where the switch is fitted. On some Jags it is fitted (hidden) underneath the battery box so it's not too bad to get to. However, some are mounted on the transmission housing in a typically silly location and it becomes a much bigger job. Personally I would suffer the pain of paying and getting a good mechanic to do it as they will have all the tools to deal with it quickly.
2006 Jaguar S-Type is stuck in reverse. What do I do?
Question edited for clarity.
Question moved to sub category.
Parking on the incline would not cause this. Rack the shift lever all the way back and then forward into park. If that doesn't work, you need a mobile mechanic.
