My 2003 GMC Envoy XL ran great, a day later it fires up 2 seconds dies over and over. The fuel pressure is 58 psi all fuses good, gauges do not sweep when key is turned on.

Have you cleaned the mass air flow sensor it could also be going out on you. Also is it cranking like a motor with a carburetor on it??

2005 Envoy XL have no brake lights, only the top light on the gate works

could have faulty turn signal switch because the brake light circuit flows through the turn signal switch.

I have a envoy xl 2006 I can drive it and it runs good no problem and I go somewhere and get in it it won't start it just turns over

Make sure it's all the way in park turn the key on let all the dash lights go out then turn the key over then if that don't work I will suggest checking spark plugs for other signs of problems

I have a 06 gmc envoy xl 4.2...battery meter fluctuates back and forth from 14 Down to 9.

Bad plug or broken wire at the plug, at the alternator. Pull the plug off the alternator. Turn the key on and check for power and ground at the leads. No reading, probe the wires a couple inches back. If a read there fix or replace the plug. If you have a 3 wire plug, best to use an ohm meter. Test each wire separately. At the pin and a couple inches back on the wire. This test may include testing the wire back to the PCM and fuse panel. You'll need wiring schematics for this. The PCM is what fields the alternator to charge and supply power when the engine is running.

I have a 2003 envoy xl. heat and ac only come out driver side defrost & left vent.No air or heat out of driver or passenger floor .Passenger vent and defrost is cool air only

Air temperature and delivery are controlled via small actuators on the heating, ventilation & air conditioning (HVAC) box located behind the dashboard. These actuators operate doors inside the HVAC box in order to channel air through different passages to achieve the desired result. A "blend" door actuator can channel air through the heater core, around the heater core or a mix of these two to achieve the desired temperature. A "mode" door actuator can direct airflow to the ducts that lead to the defrost vent, front vent, floor vent or a mix between. When a vehicle has dual climate control (where driver and passenger sides of the vehicle can have different air temperatures) there can be multiple of actuators of each type which can make diagnosis difficult. The first step would be to retrieve diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) from the HVAC Control Module using an advanced level scan tool; these codes help determine the location of the issue and if it's an electronic or mechanical failure. Electronic failures would include items such as HVAC control module failure, actuator circuit failure or actuator failure. Mechanical failures would include items such as actuator failure or internal HVAC box door failure. 2003 GMC envoy XL...tail lights work but brake lights will not work is it the brake light switch and how can I test it

ST/LP, Fuse 12, 25 Amp - feeds battery positive to brake switch ORN (orange) and out the WHT (white).

Test with a simple automotive incandescent test lamp to ground. Test lamp should light on both sides of the fuse and with contact to the switch ORN and to WHT while brake depressed.

2005 GMC Envoy XL Doesn’t start when cranking. No sound of engine attempting to start. Just complete silence when turning key to the crank position. Changed ignition switch and engine compartment miscellaneous fuse (125amp instrument panel battery) but still no start. After numerous attempts the engine has on three occasion started, but then dies after only a couple of seconds running. Key fob the locks and unlocks doors, automatic windows, radio and instrument panel lights all quit working at the same time as the non start issue. The check in fine light is on. Code reader would not detect codes. Tried reset procedure on the anti theft security, but since the security light on the instrument panel would not work I couldn’t do the reset procedure as it relates to the security light. At one point when the engine did start and then immediately die, I smelled an odor similar to hot wire (electrical) burning so I am reluctant to continue trying to start engine. Also, there is a drain on the battery as if something is drawing power from it. One more thing to point out. The anti theft security engaged (horn intermittently honking) sounded and I had to turn it off at the key fob just prior to the non start issue). I was outside the vehicle unlocking it when this happened. I then got in and started it and drove home. I was only home a few minutes and went to leave again when all these problems occurred. This leaves me questioning if perhaps the non start issue is related to the anti theft alarm being activated. This is why I attempted the security reset.

Plugging it into a diagnostic system or an OBD2 scanner could give you trouble codes as clues as to what's wrong. This will cost you for this service so shop around as price can be very different from company to company.. There are good mobile auto electricians out there who can come to you. Most modern vehicles have a built in immobilizer system. The ignition key and switch are part of it. Each ignition is coded to only that vehicle. By changing the switch you might have triggered this system and making it think that the vehicle has been stolen. If you have triggered the immobilizer and need to re-code the ignition you might have to go to a dealership to get it done.

My 2005 GMC Envoy has a high RPM and will take forever to shift gears it will not get passed 70 mph, i have to let go off the gas for it to change gears...any ideas?

Hi, with most vehicle there may be a problem that you can identify, yours may have a few issues. I think you would benefit from a visit to a trans specalist to check the box over then go from there once that issue is sorted or discounted as the cause of problems. Your description appears complex/compound...i.e. there are possibly a few things going on at the same time

I have an '06 GMC Envoy XL. The rear air only blues from the top vents and can only be controlled by the front control switch. Apparently the rear controls don't appear to be operational. It's a manual system, not digital. All fuses are ok and rear blower works, most of the time, on all three settings. Just can't seem to change speed, mode, or two with rear controls. How do I test the rear control module to verify its probably failure? Thank you.

The testing procedure is fairly long ,to much to post here . The first test would be to hook up a factory or some other professional type scan tool an check for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes . Auxiliary HVAC Control Module The auxiliary HVAC control module is a class 2 device that interfaces between the rear seat occupants and the auxiliary HVAC system to maintain auxiliary air temperature and auxiliary air distribution settings. The battery positive voltage circuit provides power that the control module uses for keep alive memory (KAM). If the battery positive voltage circuit loses power, all auxiliary HVAC DTCs and settings will be erased from KAM. The auxiliary HVAC control module will perform a recalibration of the electric actuators when commanded with a scan tool or if KAM is lost. This will ensure the actuators are moving with in the calibrated range. During this calibration process the auxiliary blower motor will be disabled for up to 3 minutes. Do you know what class 2 is ? It is a serial data network for the control modules to talk to each other . Air Distribution - Auxiliary Control The auxiliary HVAC system provides ventilation for the rear seat occupants. The auxiliary mode actuator shares a control circuit with the auxiliary air temperature actuator. The auxiliary mode is controlled by a rotary knob on the auxiliary HVAC control module. If change of position is required for both actuators, then the auxiliary HVAC control module positions the auxiliary air temperature actuator first. All control circuits for the auxiliary actuators are at a low voltage potential until a change of position is required. The module then applies a high voltage potential to the appropriate control circuit, which will rotate the actuator. Air Speed - Auxiliary There are two separate controls for the auxiliary HVAC system. There is the front auxiliary blower motor switch and the auxiliary HVAC control module. If the front auxiliary blower motor switch is in any other position than OFF or REAR, then the auxiliary air temperature actuator mimics the set passenger temperature. The auxiliary mode will mimic the primary mode. If the front auxiliary blower motor switch is in the REAR position, then the system will only function with inputs to the auxiliary HVAC control module. If the front auxiliary blower motor switch is in the OFF position, then the auxiliary HVAC control module does not respond to input. The auxiliary HVAC control module can not request A/C operation from the PCM. The rotary blower switch on the auxiliary HVAC control module provides the operator the ability to select several blower speeds. The auxiliary HVAC control module provides a pulse width modulated (PWM) signal to the auxiliary blower motor through the auxiliary blower motor speed control circuit. The auxiliary blower motor changes speed based on the received PWM signal from the auxiliary HVAC control module. Power and ground are provided to the auxiliary blower motor through the battery positive voltage and ground circuits. Power and ground are provided to the auxiliary HVAC control module by the ignition 3 voltage and the ground circuits. Auxiliary Console Mode Actuator The auxiliary console mode actuator is a 5 wire bi-directional electric motor that incorporates a feedback potentiometer. Low reference, 5 volt reference, position signal, and two control circuits enable the actuator to operate. The control circuits use either a 0 or 12 volt value to co-ordinate the actuator movement. When the actuator is at rest, both control circuits have a value of 0 volts. In order to move the actuator, the auxiliary HVAC control module grounds one of the control circuits while providing the other with 12 volts. The control module reverses the polarity of the control circuits to move the actuator in the opposite direction. When the actuator shaft rotates, the potentiometer's adjustable contact changes the door position signal between 0-5 volts. The auxiliary HVAC control module uses a range of 0-255 counts to index the actuator position. The door position signal voltage is converted to a 0-255 count range. When the module sets a commanded, or targeted, value, one of the control circuits is grounded. As the actuator shaft rotates the changing position signal is sent to the module. Once the position signal and the commanded value are the same, the module grounds both control circuits. Auxiliary Mode Actuator The auxiliary mode actuator is a 5 wire bi-directional electric motor that incorporates a feedback potentiometer. When the module sets a commanded, or targeted, value, one of the control circuits is grounded. As the actuator shaft rotates the changing position signal is sent to the module. Once the position signal and the commanded value are the same, the module grounds both control circuits. It's nice to know how thing's work before trying to fix it .
