You need to thell the CU that you haven't stolen the vehicle by switching it off using your remote control.

If you are a Ford trained Auto Transmission tech, yes.

The cigar lighter is installed from the back of the center trim panel.

To remove the center trim panel, open the ash tray and pull out on each lower corner. It will be hard the 1st time you remove the spring clips. Once the lower part is released, work your way up to the top, there are 3 spring clips on each side of the center trim panel. ( circled in black in the picture below )
When you get to the top, be careful how far out you pull, the Passenger airbag deactivation light is at the top, with 2 small wires to it. ( circled in green )


Once you have the center panel released, you can remove the HVAC connector ( clamp over type connectors ) or work on it in the truck.

Remove the cigar lighter connector, and release the locking tabs on the cigar lighter body. Pull the lighter plug through the front of the panel.

Question edited for clarity. Question moved to Ford F-150. The first thing you must do is to connect a code reader and find out why the Engine Check Light is on. It is a 1998, so the information will be basic, but it is a starting point.

If both have gone off together the first thing you check is the fuse. It is in the fuse box under the hood. I think on your model the fuse box is on the opposite side to the battery. Check fuse number 25. It is a 30A fuse. **Note** ALWAYS replace fuses with the SAME Amp rating, never higher or lower. Auto trans or Manual? Auto trans is a fixed mount, any adjustment would be done at the shift linkage. Manual trans switch appears that it can be moved in or out somewhat as it is threaded, probably has a locknut holding it at the correct position once adjusted. If no locknut, then it appears to be a fixed switch.

When they cut the cat out they may have damaged the wiring that goes to your fuel pump.When you turn the key on (not cranking) you should hear the fuel pump turn on for 1/2 second.That is the prime sequence. If you don't hear the pump run,check around where they cut out the cat.Chances are you will find cut wires. Any car/truck will run without a cat..but it will be loud!

Could be low fuel pressure or obstructed air filter.
