No start on duramax at time when hot

IF THIS IS AN 2007 YEAR THE FUEL PUMP SHOULD BE IN THE TANK. IF THIS IS A DEISEL THE PUMP COULD BE ON THE FRAME RAIL BUT ONLY HAS ONE PUMP THE PUMP RUNS BOTH TANKS.
CHECK FOR ANY CRACKS IN THE FUEL LINE ALSO. BUT IT SOUNDS LIKE THE FUEL DRAINS BACK INTO THE TANK WHEN IT SETS THIS IS A SIGN THAT THE FUEL PUMP IS NOT HOLDING IT'S PRIME AND THIS NEEDS TO BE REPLACED

Should be at the fuse block under the hood. If you have your owner's manual it explains all the fuses pretty good.

Looking for trouble shooting help with 2002 fuel

Did you do it like this? Voltmeter: black lead on negative battery terminal, positive lead on one of terminals on coil side- turn key to on, and see if there is voltage for about 2 seconds. If yes, check negative terminal of relay's coil side. If no voltage, move positive lead to other terminal for coil side. Turn key to on, and see if you have voltage for about 2 seconds. If yes, test negative side of relay's coil for good ground. If no signal at either terminal, the signal may be lost from the pcm. When you turn the key to on, this will prime the fuel system-pump will turn on for only 2 seconds with key in on, and then if no crank signal, pump will turn off (the relay will not stay energized, so no power will go to pump). But when the engine is cranking over, the relay is energized, the coil side will stay powered as long as engine is cranking. After the engine is running, usually an oil pressure switch is tied into the fuel pump circuit, so the relay is no longer needed to put power to the pump. The pump will always be running when engine is cranking, and when engine is running, but the relay no longer is needed when engine is running. See?

I have a 03 chevy silverado 3500 dualie diesel 4wd. I have the push button 4wd and when I shift from 4H to 2H it takes a long time to come out and when it does it comes out with a bad bang. I know th

if you are driving in 4H on hard surfaces and just flip the switch to 2H still on the hard surfaces it will react exactly as you describe when in 4H as there is no internal diff action in the transfer case , a condition known as torque wind up occurs and places heavy loads on the drive line components thereby locking the gear teeth and that will not allow the separation on selecting 2W drive if at some point one wheel looses traction for a split section, that torque wind up is reduced and the pressure on the actuator slams the selector out of engagement 4H should only be used in slippery conditions , mud, dirt ,snow, ice, grass etc where the wheels loose traction and allow that wind up to dissipate if you continue to drive on hard surfaces in 4 H then transmission failure will occur earlier than can be expected

Okay. I have a 2001 6.0 Silverado 3500. When I turn the key all lights P R N D 1 2 work, after I start it up they go out. I have replaced the IP instrument cluster Anyone know?

When you turn the key on, a light test is performed which is why they go on then - shows there is nothing wrong with the lights. The lights are controlled by a switch either on the steering column or in the console (stick shift). Looks like the switch will need to be replaced.

More than likely the tiny DC motor in the gauge cluster is defective, a common issue on this truck. Pull the cluster and have it rebuilt with the updated parts.

IF crank sensor is unpluged will engine start

No! If the crank sensor fails the engine will not start. The ignition module must receive a crank sensor signal for the engine to run.

Where is the crank(shaft) (position) sensor located?

The CPS is typically located behind the harmonic balancer on the crankshaft. It may or may not be hidden behind the timing belt/chain cover on the front of the engine.

Most often you need a code reader with a reset function that can connect to the computer jack under the dash and reset factory functions like that. Pain in the tush if you are changing your own oil. Mechanics and dealers have the equipment to do that reset.
