Rear end clunk in Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup

The noise is caused by the axle button being worn out, this lets the axle move back and forth and clunk, this is a unique problem with C clip retained axles, it is a noise issue but will not fail and cause any more damage, in order to fix it you must have the axles pulled and the diff carrier checked for excess wear where the axle retainning C clip rides, if the carrier is ok then replace the axles.

ENG 1 - 20 amp fuse - under hood fuse Box . This fuse powers the O2 sensors heater circuits , Emission - purge an vent solenoids , mass air flow sensor , camshaft position sensor an A.I.R. intake recirculation relay - if your vehicle has it , L31 only I would look for wires for o2 sensor melted on a exhaust pipe or manifold . Isn't your check engine light on ?

98 chevy k1500 cruse control

Hi,

Appreciate the "Ask Me".

To my knowledge, Cruise Control would be relatively difficult to diagnose without a scan tool attached to the control module to read the error codes. Additionally, car versions in my country seldom have such a device since our roads are narrower and travel distance is not that great.

Though most known causes are:
  • the connector to the module;
  • loose brake pedal/switch;
  • loose clutch pedal/switch (for manual transmission);
  • vacuum line to actuator (most likely), vacuum actuator, diaphragm, control valve.
Other possible components to check are:
  • the control module itself (bolted to the firewall);
  • control cable or linkage;
  • speedometer sensor;
  • steering wheel controls switches;
  • throttle position sensor.
As posted above, quite a number of possibilities. Any other indications, speedometer OK; abnormal throttle responses; abnormal idling, brake light always ON, slack in the accelerator/gas pedal? Was it cutting in/out before? Was there any recent repair work done on the engine before the cruise control cut out?

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

1999 Chevrolet Silverado 5.3l a/c is cold while sitting still idling but once you start driving is not as cold can't figure out what's wrong?

Just for fun,clamp off the heater hoses,just squeeze them flat in place to stop the hot coolant flow through the heater core.Take it for a spin and see if the a/c stays cold.Sometimes with increased hot coolant flow through the heater core with increased engine rpm (driving) and a leaky air flow door in the a/c heater assembly,it can be hard to keep the a/c air cold.

I have a 1999 chevy

This is an extremely difficult problem you have the biggest issue is the door won't open .I'm guessing you have a key less entry system if so can you hear the motor move for the lock in the door dose it have power dose the window work up and down . This will tell you if the problem is electrical or mechanical if the motor is bad you will hear nothing if the clip broke or popped off.it will make noise. Worse case you will have to take the other door apart take a close look at how it works then drill a hole in the broken door from the inside at a spot ware you can talk a screw driver and manually pop the lock open. Well I didn't say it would be easy but if you look closely anyone could do it.
