Could be a problem with a bad float that is overloading the engine with fuel. Does it take a little bit to "clear its throat" once you are on flat ground again?
If you have good spark then it's most likely a fuel issue, anything off of idle is dealing with the main jet and metering needle, clean jet and check needle for excessive wear.
