This sounds like a basic Main Jet clog. I suppose it could also be a semi-clogged fuel filter, but the Main jet is more likely. This is assuming that the engine is not fuel injected. As I do not know the type of carb I cannot give you any of the easy cheats to try for a quick check, but for older carbs with a slide you can pull the slide out and use compressed air to shoot some air down the main jet hole at the bottom. Otherwize, the "Best" way is to disassemble and clean. This is a "Guess" at best, however I have seen this very problem several times on multiple carbs. Good Luck.
Hi Howard find thd neutral switch on the left hand side near the sprocket it should be a single wire (light green) earth it to the frame or battery and se if the light comes on. If it dose make sure it's in nethral then try to star it. Regards Jim...
Take fuel cap off to make sure it is getting air to fuel tank. Check fuel valve to make sure it is on. Drain carb with screw on bottom of carb to check for water. Pull spark plug to make sure it is firing.
That is a possibility, if it is fuel injected there is a minimum pressure required for it to run. A fule rail gauge is not very expensive and you can find fuel pump testing on Utube.
Track down the fuel line to the fuel pump and check the wiring there. You should have good power to the pump, and you should have a good electrical ground. If you have both but the pump isn't pumping, and the tank has plenty of good fresh gas and the gas petcock is turned on, then the fuel pump needs replacing.
