1999 Polaris Sportsman 500. No Fire again. New stator, pickup coil, ign coil & plug wire. Put new CDI On and got fire but it just quits in less than 2 minutes. Runs good but just dies again. Other than the above items with the black CDI lead unplugged what else is there? Could the CDI I picked up on Ebay be junk? Any ideas would help. Mike.

I had a similar problem and it turned out to be 2 problems, a bad ground connector and a weak battery. Hope this helps! In trying to repair it though, I nicked a wire on the stator. Do you have a spare for sale?

this sounds crazy but is your speedometer in working order. i have a 99 also and i didnt get any spark one day just quit. after a couple days of trying things i read on the internet about if your speedometer is not working and cutting on or off it will short out the spark and also make the 4 wheel drive not work. i unhooked the speedo and no problems since.

follow ur throttle cable down to cars there should be a plastic screw close to cable to adjust idea but with polaris that screw can be hard to find with all the plasticc they put in way but if u can see carbs easy enough u will see the idle screw
