Float adjustment is critical! Your local dealer will have the correct spec's to set this by. ..Too low and you will run lean... too high and you will leak/overflow fuel!!

Correct--Not adjustable. Replace the float needle valve with a new one--Yamaha OEM only. If the seat in the carb is dirty or rough, Clean with a Q tip & a little polishing compound like Comet.

Possibles:
- Needle valve has been compromised, possibly held open with grit.
Carefully dismantle and blow out all orifices with compressed air.
- Float level set too high. Review the way the float shutoff mechanism works. Make sure the float moves up and down easily and that it still floats as intended. Double check the lever that moves the needle valve. Make sure it is correctly connected to the needle.

Assuming you have a carburetor and you have not previously worked on it it is likely you have some debris inside the "float bowl" keeping the float from floating up and stopping the fuel from entering the bowl. It "could be a number of things" First thing Id try is a few light taps on the carb bowl, if that doesn't work you will probably need a needle seat valve or to possibly re adjust the float level (if you have been in there messing around) The inside of the carb works almost like a toilet tank, but if the float isn't rising up to shut off the fuel it will just run out the over flow tube, hope this helps.
You cleaned the carb; did you rebuild it? Did you put in new throttle springs and adjust the needle jet properly... the keeper ring placed on the correct groove? Did you put a new float in and then adjust the float travel properly? If you didn't do these things, then you aren't finished yet. All these things make a difference. If you need to put a new float in, be careful as the metal tab is easy to break off when bending it to correct specs.
The float needle is stuck open. Typically the needle can get a speck of dirt or the float adjustment arm is not properly aligned. The arm should be able to close the needle at approximately 90 degrees. Remove the float bowl and look at the carb from the side and adjust the arm to seat the needle when the floats are about where they would be as if the bowl were full of fuel.
