Was running great and then just died. Ignition fuse was blown. Replaced and would not start and only backlight worked on display. Replaced battery and starts great and runs great just no display. Checked all fuses with meter and voltage at both sides of fuses. O.K. any ideas where to start?

Hey Bruce,
get one of these manuals..they have the wiring diagrams and some troubleshooting tips.. trace the wires using the wiring diagram...take your time.. you CAN figure it out!!!

This is extremely common :)
With time your throttle body gets gummed up with oily residue from the PCV system. As this happens, the computer adapts to the restriction it causes in the throttle body.
When you unhook the battery, these learned values are lost and the default settings for idle control are used. Unfortunately the default settings are no longer sufficient to keep the idle correct with it all gummed up.
Take your intake hoses off the throttle bodies and clean the insides (open the throttle plates for better access) with a rag and some brake parts cleaner or throttle plate cleaner, available from your local parts store.
Reassemble and start the car, your idle problems should be gone immediately.

disconnect the neg batt cable and bridge it with a test light, it should light up and dim after a few seconds, if it stays bright you have a short in one or more circuits, pull each fuse one at a time to see if you can locate which circuit, good luck

i would say you have a mains problem?any car that blows a 40amp fuse has a big fault.you have a direct short in the alternator/starter/battery area.take a very close look, as this type of fault will show its face pretty quick, check all heavy wires to and from starter/battery,and if satisafied get the alternator checked as it could be the problem.adrian,,,
