My Polaris sportsman 600 twin 2003 starts and idles but won't reve seems to be missing and blowing black smoke ?

I have two thoughts on this.

You either have water in the electrics from hosing the mud off, especially if you used a power washer.

Or

If mud and water got into the stator and coated the sensor for the CDI. It is magnetic, but in close proximity.

Basically strip and clean and spray WD40 in connectors.

Sounds like you have some trash in the main jet of your carb. Take the carb off and clean it. That's prob all it is. Hope this helps.

If you have no spark , check kill switches for corrosion, does the light work when u turn it over ?

Take out a newspaper ad WANTING PARTS FOR YOUR SPECIFIC ATV....like plastic, seat, etc,, then do your spy work,..if they are parting it out you might get a hit.. get one of your friends to let you use a phone number from a different town

Sounds like a thermostat issue....inspect the rad and you should see a thermostat with wires ...check for corrosion on the terminals.

if its EFI its an injector, it not fuel injected, its a carb issue

Check Float Height and reset the airscrew to around 1 -1 1/2 and make sure all jets are clean
